From zero to hero. Starting their journey from the very bottom in the Kpop industry, there is nothing BTS cannot accomplish today. In addition to their 2021 UNGA speech and performance, BTS also paid a diplomatic visit to the “Met”, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
BTS Diplomatic Visit to the “Met”, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
Following their departure to New York as Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generation and Culture, BTS has once again marked their existence in history. If BLACKPINK Rosé and CL previously visited the “Met” as the first female Kpop idols at the Met Gala, today BTS also walked in the same place as South Korean diplomats.
On September 21, Korean media reported that BTS had paid a diplomatic visit to the New York “Met’, or Metropolitan Museum of Art. The septet boy group was on their diplomatic duty as Special Presidential Envoy, accompanying the South Korean first lady, Kim Jung Sook, as well as the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Hwang Hee.

As a global leader in the Kpop and international music industry, BTS has undoubtedly broken the boundaries between artists and diplomats by bearing both titles and duties. That is why there are at least 10 memories you WILL definitely remember from this breakthrough event.
10 Memories You WILL Remember from BTS Visit to the “Met”
BTS Entrance to the Met Ceremony
Firstly, just as expected from a global superstar, the BTS entrance at the “Met” museum attracted the guests’ attention. All eyes seemed to be directed at the septet boy group as they walked to their seats in the ceremony.
Sitting Formally Straight, Paying Close Attention as Stellar Diplomats
Secondly, we can see how Jin, Jimin, and Jungkook were sitting formally straight, paying close attention to the ceremony as stellar diplomats. Therefore, a fan cannot help but joking and hoping to be sitting with them while happily wiggling feet.
Yes, that's me, seated beside #Jungkook at Met Museum, I wiggle wiggle the feet because I'm happy

BTS Leader Exceptional Speech
Thirdly, we can see how Kim Namjoon “RM” has once again showcased his exceptional speech as a BTS leader during their visit.
Accompanying the South Korean First Lady, Presenting a Special Gift
Next, as Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generation and Culture, BTS joined First lady Kim Jung Sook in presenting the museum with a special gift.
During this diplomatic visit, BTS and First Lady Kim Jung Sook presented a piece from Korean contemporary lacquer artist Chung Hae Cho titled “Rhythm of the Five Color Luster”. Later on, the museum will feature this piece at their “Shell and Resin: Korean Mother-of-Pearl and Lacquer” from December 13, 2021 – July 5, 2022.

Staying Humble Despite Being a Global Superstar
Being an international superstar does not make BTS lost in their stardom. In fact, BTS members remained humble when First Lady Kim Jung Sook introduced them to the museum director.
First Lady: This is BTS!

Museum Director: Very good. Good to see you!
First Lady: They will be accompanying me today.
Museum Director: ?? I already heard you were rocking the UN earlier on.

Kim Namjoon’s Knowledgeable Remarks
Furthermore, as one of the smartest Korean celebrities, nothing can escape Kim Namjoon’s knowledgeable remarks. During their “Met” visit, BTS leader Kim Namjoon “RM” also participated in the art discussion about Korean Moon Jar.
RM said "I feel the attraction from the unbalanced shape of Moon Jar" in front of Moon jar at the Met, the First lady of South Korea Mrs. Kim Jung-sook said "Moon jar is made by combining two halves that are separately." and said "BTS has profound knowledge about various arts." pic.twitter.com/n4wasUtjux

Jimin “Humane” Captions
BTS Jimin once again reminded us that despite their celebrity-diplomat status, BTS members are just humans like us. In one of BTS’s Twitter posts, Jimin captioned that he gained valuable experiences despite the challenging situations.
아미 덕분에 또 다시 이곳에 올 수 있었습니다.

Kim Namjoon Was Having Fun
On the other hand, Kim Namjoon, the straight-A student, delightfully stated that he was having so much fun during the visit.

After all, the Metropolitan Museum of Art might be one of his favorite places since he visited the place in 2019 by himself.

BTS Unrivalled Visuals as South Korean Diplomats
Indeed that BTS members have long been known for their talent and visuals as Kpop idols. However, as South Korean diplomats, their strong visuals deliver different vibes that are just unrivaled, even when they were wearing masks!
BTS Will Be Remembered as Once in a Lifetime Phenomenon
From zero to hero. A Kpop boy group from a small company turned diplomats representing their home country, sitting with famous international leaders. BTS will always be remembered as a “once in a lifetime” phenomenon.
