What is Y2K retro fashion?
The Y2K fashion is quite distinctive and inspired by the mid-90s and early 2000s. The style is a combination of futuristic with a slightly retro edge: bold piece, shiny materials, chunky sneakers, tiny tops, pleated skirts, denim on denim, baguette bags, and colorful sunglasses.

1. 1/6 – Sunmi
Sunmi ‘1/6’ mini-album is Y2K start from the beginning. The concept photos to the music video for the title track ‘You Can’t Sit With Us’ bring us back to the year 2000. Sunmi wears denim on denim (with flared bottoms) to the schoolgirl-inspired look and matching bandana. Don’t forget the colorful accessories Sunmi wears, too!
2. Red Lipstick – LeeHi
From the beginning of the ‘Red Lipstick’ music video, LeeHi gives us the Y2K vibe. With the retro TV and home decoration, LeeHi enjoys herself before she wears her mask. Crop tops, shiny accessories, and bold makeup are all we need to return to the Y2K fashion.
3. Crazy In Love – ITZY
It’s crazy how ITZY brings back the Y2K fashion in their first full-length album, ‘Crazy In Love.’ Almost every look in the ‘LOCO’ music video is Y2K inspired. Look at ITZY girls wearing bright pink attire complete with various shiny and fuzzy textures to the crop tops, pleated skirts, wide-leg pants, and chunky boots!
4. Windy – (G)I-DLE Jeon Soyeon
The leader of (G)I-DLE, Jeon Soyeon, made her solo comeback with mini-album ‘Windy.’ In the title track ‘BEAM BEAM,’ Soyeon throws back to various Y2K fashion; miniskirts, crop tops, boots, and translucent sunglasses with a more petite silhouette. Not only that, but Soyeon also brings the more punk trends of Y2K fashion with a jean maxi skirt and leather jacket.
5. Weekend – Girls’ Generation Taeyeon
In her digital single ‘Weekend,’ Taeyeon showcases the mid-90s and early 2000s vibes. Look at the pink sweatsuit with a juicy shirt, plus her wide pink bandana. Additionally, her bright pastel makeup and jewelry highlight the Y2K fashion.
6. The Feels – TWICE
TWICE first English single, ‘The Feels,’ has a bright and energetic concept. The fashion and prom-themed music video throw us back to the early 2000s with pleated skirts and crop tops, pink and sparkles.
Not only the official music video has the Y2K fashion, but TWICE ‘The Feels’ official lyrics video also delivers the Y2K vibe with a retro computer theme. So which one do you like most?
7. ReviveR – AleXa
The solo singer, AleXa, gives us the nostalgic feel with Y2K pink trend for her ‘ReviveR’ single album. Her concept is full of pink color (including her hair!), crop tops, tiny tees with fun graphics, pants with a lower rise, denim, and pleated miniskirt.
8. DUMB DUMB – Somi

Last but not least, HyunA and DAWN feature Y2K fashion in their ‘PING PONG’ music video. The couple’s outfits are Y2K staples.
