Kpop monster rookie and next million-seller queen, aespa, has successfully brought their reputations to the next level! They have become the first-ever 4th gen Kpop group to stand on the United Nations podium and speak on behalf of the MZ generations: a combination between the millennials and Gen Z.
On July 5 local time, aespa entered the podium at the United Nations (UN) High-Level Political Forum 2022 and successfully delivered their thoughtful speech and performance. During this occasion, aespa decided to use English as the medium of their messages. aespa member Giselle was the main speaker since she is the most fluent in English, and Karina participated in delivering the closing statement.
3 CRUCIAL Messages in aespa Thoughtful Speech at the High-Level Political Forum of United Nations (UN)
So, what did aespa talk about, and what are the messages they were trying to convey in their UN speech? Here are the 3 main crucial messages aespa pointed out during their thoughtful speech at the High-Level Political Forum of the United Nations (UN).
1. Real World is Far More Important Than the Metaverse
Firstly, after briefly introducing themselves as the “metaverse girl group”, aespa Giselle began her speech by mentioning that the metaverse world has attracted the attention from numerous people worldwide.
Indeed, this metaverse concept is brilliant in transcending time, space, and even reality. However, does it mean that it will completely replace the real world? According to aespa, that is not the case at all.
“People are paying more attention to creating the best possible metaverse world. It transcends many boundaries—reality and virtual reality, time and space, and genres and generations.
As the metaverse accelerates, we have to ask the question: ‘Are we working just as hard to create the best possible real-world?’”
aespa Giselle.
2. The Metaverse is a Reflection of the Reality
Furthermore, aespa Giselle stated that no matter how brilliant the concept, the metaverse is still a reflection of the real world. Therefore, if we cannot sustain our reality, the metaverse can never exist.
The real world is the reality in which we are currently living. If we don’t take action to sustain its living environment, we will never be able to maintain the metaverse. After all, the metaverse is a reflection of the real world.
“The metaverse reflects reality. If our own reality is not sustainable, it will become difficult to sustain the possibilities of the virtual world.
Without sustainable ecosystems or equal opportunities for quality living, there will be no real world to be mirrored.”
aespa Giselle.
3. Inviting the Next Generation to Support the SDGs
Eventually, aespa promised to support all the Sustainable Development Goals stated in the United Nations campaigns. According to aespa, the SDGs are urgent topics that require the next generations’ assistance. That is why they will continue to promote supporting the SDGs both in the real world and within the metaverse.
Along with their devoted promise, aespa also invites all the people from the next generation to support the SDGs. Only that way can we all protect the real world we live in.
“The topic of sustainable development is urgent, and we believe that the next generation must support sustainable development goals in order to protect the world that we live in.
aespa will continue to connect with the next generation through music, and we’ll work to represent sustainable goals in reality, hence, within the metaverse.”
aespa Giselle.
