It tells the grueling struggle of three siblings, a man full of mystery, and the people around them. They search for the meaning of life, true love, real friendship, self-fulfillment, and achievement in their everyday lives. The plot of this drama is unique and extraordinary. It follows three siblings with different characters and a secretive stranger with a mysterious background.
Yeom Ki Jung (Lee El), Yeom Chang Hee (Lee Min Ki), and Yeom Mi Jung (Kim Ji Won) are three siblings who live in the Sanpo Village. It is a remote village located far away from Seoul. Due to the distance between their office and home, they have difficulty establishing social life, and it’s influencing their personal lives.
The eldest one is Yeom Ki Jung. She is looking forward to a meaningful relationship that never came. However, the distance between the office and her home makes her feel less confident in establishing a real relationship with a man. She expresses her frustration through her sharp words.
Meanwhile, Yeom Chang Hee, the middle child, dreams of living like people in the big city who have the freedom to do anything they like and have a better career and financial situation. However, he often overthinks due to the distance between his house and his girlfriend’s house. As a result, he ended the relationship with his girlfriend.
The last child, Yeom Mi Jung, is an introvert. She tries to avoid social meetings in her office. She only gets involved when her coworkers persuade her, which makes her depressed at the end of the day.
The three of them wondered if their lives would be different if they lived in the city. Not feeling wasted because of where they live and whether they are more open to love and have a better career and financial situation.
Things slowly change when a secretive man called Mr. Gu (Son Suk Ku) lives near their house one day. He talks less, works a lot, and drunks every night.
The unconventional relationship between Mr. Gu and Mi Jung becomes the critical point of this drama. Mi Jung feels fed up with her condition. She also thinks that Mr. Gu needs to stop drinking and being miserable. Therefore, Mi Jung purposes to change them by worshiping each other. She believes by doing something new and filling each other; they would become new persons by Spring.

“My Liberation Notes” is different from other slice-of-life dramas since it’s related to introverts. In the drama, the character of Mi Jung is an introverted girl who gets the most attention from the audience. She is rarely speaks but loud on the inside.
As an introvert, she tends to be quiet and keeps all of her feelings to herself. She also doesn’t like to show her emotion when dealing with other people. However, she can burst into tears or explode to express her anger when she is alone. Further, being an introvert makes her seem to accept all the actions and words of others, although the truth is she cannot accept it at all. Like her ex-boyfriend left her with his debt or her boss constantly belittles her with his words.
Furthermore, even though she is reserved, she has a strong intuition toward other people. Like she puts her trust in Mr. Gu, a stranger next door, about her ex-boyfriend’s debt.
She also has a firm principle. She doesn’t like people invading her space and pushing her to the limit. So in her case, she proposes an idea to make the Liberation Club in order not to join other clubs. Liberation Club is a club where its members are free for everything they feel and do.

.“My Liberation Notes” is a slice-of-life Kdrama on Netflix that you should not skip. It is a realistic drama that relates to everyday life. Particularly it portrays the difficulty of feeling isolated and not accomplishing anything while everyone else appears to be making progress.
