Alchemy of Souls has made history in the romance-fantasy Korean drama throughout the year. Viewers have loved every bit of the Kdrama, from the characters’ chemistry to the surprising plot twists in the story. As soon as Alchemy of Souls ended, viewers realized they had been hooked and asked for more. Luckily, on August 26, it was confirmed that the Kdrama would have its Part 2 airing soon. Here are some things to expect from Alchemy of Souls part 2. Are you excited?
What to Expect from Alchemy of Souls Part 2
1. Jung So Min won’t be the main character in Alchemy of Souls 2
Previously, Jung So Min’s agency Blossom Entertainment stated that they couldn’t tell whether Jung So Min was in Part 2 or not.
“We ask for your understanding that we are unable to tell you whether she (Jung So Min) will be in Part 2 or not because that could be a spoiler for Part 1.”
Blossom Entertainment.
After finishing Alchemy of Souls Part 1, all the rumors make sense. Jung So Min will likely not be the female lead of Alchemy of Souls 2 because the story would focus on Naksu (Go Yoon Jung).
Fortunately, it is expected that fans are still able to see Jung So Min, as she will play a supporting role in Alchemy of Souls 2.
2. Alchemy of Souls 2 Complete cast
As mentioned, Jung So Min will no longer play the female lead in the drama. However, the majority of Alchemy of Souls Part 1 will return to reprise their roles;
- Lee Jae Wook – Jang Wook
- Go Yoon Jung – Naksu
- Hwang Min Hyun – Seo Yul
- Shin Seung Ho – Go Won
- Yoo Joon Sang – Park Jin
- Oh Na Ra – Kim Do Ju
- Yoo In Soo – Park Dang Gu
- Arin – Jin Cho Yeon
- Do Sang Woo – Seo Yoon Oh
3. The more serious storyline
Although Alchemy of Souls 1 has already had a serious storyline, Part 2 is expected to be darker. After Jang Wook (Lee Jae Wook) is reborn, viewers expect him to be stronger and avenge Naksu’s sufferings.
Moreover, viewers have no idea yet who the pairs of embodied hands that saved Mu Deok in the lake are and whether she is still alive. Viewers are also getting anxious about how Naksu will take her revenge on the cunning Jin Mu (Jo Jae Yoon).
From the destiny of Jang Wook and Mu Deok to the safety of Seo Yul (Hwang Min Hyun), who had black magic in his blood, and revenge of Jin Cho Yeon (Arin), whose father was killed by Naksu.
4. Prominent director and screenwriter
Previously, Director Park Joon Hwa revealed that he was working on Alchemy of Souls 2 while part 1 was still airing. So now viewers are waiting for the return of Jang Wook and Mu Deok/Naksu in Part 2.
“I’m still writing the script for part two, but it’s in progress. A story that can be contained. It was more difficult than I thought to put the narrative and relationship story in 20 parts, so I made the decision [to produce a second season] early on.”
Director Park Joon Hwa.
Furthermore, penned by the acclaimed prominent screenwriters the Hong sisters (Hong Jung Eun and Hong Mi Ran), Alchemy of Souls 1 and 2 will surely get viewers’ hearts in no time. The Hong Sisters have been known for their famous Kdramas, such as Sassy Girl Chun Hyang, Hotel del Luna, A Korean Oddysey, and You’re Beautiful.
5. Consists of 10 Episodes
Alchemy of Souls Part 1 consisted of 20 tense episodes. The director said Alchemy of Souls Part 2 would be shorter, with only ten episodes, but with a more tense storyline.
6. Alchemy of Souls 2 airing schedule
South Korean cable network tvN confirmed that Alchemy of Souls 2 will start airing on December 2022. The first episode of Alchemy of Souls 2 is currently scheduled to air on Saturday, December 10.
