1. Mungyeongsaejae Open Set
The first filming location of ‘Lovers of the Red Sky’ is located within the walls of Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park. Many Korean dramas had scenes filmed in the Mungyeongsaejae Open Set, such as ‘The Kings Affection,’ ‘My Roomate is a Gumiho,’ and ‘Imitation.’ Meanwhile, ‘Lovers of the Red Sky’ has most of the scenes taken at the Mungyeongsaejae Open Set.
What to do at Mungyeongsaejae Open Set
When you arrive on the set, you can see a list of dramas that has been filmed in the location at the entrance gate. There are many historical buildings, and even they recreated the Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung Palace here.
While having a leisure walk with your family or friends, you can also admire the richness of Korean culture. However, if you don’t like to walk too much, you can take the tour bus which can take you to and fro. We recommend you visit this place in the morning, so you’ll have enough time to explore.

2. Gyeongsan Bangokji Reservoir
One of the most unforgettable scenes from the drama was when Scholar Ha kissed Cheon Gi for the first time. The filming location of that romantic scene of ‘Lovers of the Red Sky’ is at Gyeongsan Bangoki Reservoir.
Located at Gyeongsan city, North Gyeongsang Province, Bangokji Reservoir is only 7 km from Yeungnam University. The set is actually an artificial lake with a picturesque view.

The perfect season to visit this beautiful romantic place is during spring, when you can experience what happened to little Ha Ram and Cheon Gi. You can celebrate cherry blossom and try delicious peaches with your beloved ones.
Entering the area, you can find a little café with an outdoor seating area. The café is named after the willow trees that grow around Bangokji lake.
After enjoying some time at the café, you can take a walk around the lake and enjoy the breeze. Remember to take lots of pictures, especially of the glassy clear lake.

3. Mureung Valley (Mureung Kyegok)
On episode 10 of ‘Lovers of the Red Sky,’ Scholar Ha took Cheon Gi to a valley with breathtaking scenery and asked her to paint him for the first time. Mureung Valley, a four-kilometer natural beauty, stretches from Dutasan Mountain and Cheongoksan Mountain.
Located at the outskirts of Donghae, Gangwon Province, this scenic ‘Lovers of the Red Sky’ filming location is actually a popular hiking destination.
What to do in Mureung Valley
As it is a popular hiking destination, you will be able to enjoy a vast picturesque slab of Mureung rock set against the backdrop of lush green forests and mountains. When you close your eyes, you can listen to the peaceful, harmonious sound of streams, waterfalls, and breezing wind.
During the loop of the valley, you can find some historical sites. Near the entrance of the valley, you can admire the thousand-year-old Samwha Buddhist Temple. You are also allowed to refresh yourself and dip in the waters -but this only when you visit Mureung Valley during summer days.
