Did you know? These 3 Korean female celebrities managed to return to the entertainment industry despite having massive scandal news and controversy. But the question is: will they be able to succeed in the end? Check out the following reports for the complete discussion.
The Power of Reputation for a Celebrity in South Korea
Most celebrities rise to fame not only because of their skills and competency but also for their excellent reputation and behavior.
In South Korea particularly, the success of male and female Korean celebrities also lies in the hands of fans and the public. The public’s attention to these celebrities plays a crucial role, and it can lead them not only to skyrocketing reputations but also to massive downfall.
No matter how good the celebrity’s skills and talent are, once they involve themselves in a huge irreparable scandal, they will most likely be unable to return to the Korean entertainment industry.
Indeed, some celebrities managed to survive the South Korean cancel culture in the past, including Stray Kids Hyunjin, actress Seo Ye Ji, and actor Kim Seon Ho. However, these celebrities survived either due to baseless rumors with no evidence or after being deemed innocent.
Today, discussions started appearing for Korean female celebrities who are making their comeback amidst massive scandal news and controversy.
3 Korean Female Celebrities Returning This Year Despite Scandal News and Controversy
Korean media reported on January 4 that despite all the massive news of scandal and controversy circulating around them, there are 3 particular Korean female celebrities who managed to make their return.
Check out these Korean female celebrities who return to the entertainment industry amidst their huge scandal and controversy.
1. Former After School Lizzy
The first among the Korean female celebrities who make their comeback despite massive scandal news and controversy is Lizzy.
Lizzy is a former After School member who finally found a new agency in October 2021. After a reflection hiatus, she managed to sign with BK Entertainment and released a new profile photo.
Previously in May 2021, Lizzy was involved in a severe DUI scandal and controversy. At the time, she was driving her car near Yeongdong Bridge in Gangnam when she suddenly collided with a taxi in front of her. It turns out that Lizzy’s blood alcohol level was so high that it reached the license revocation level.
What makes her scandal worse is that before her DUI accident happened, Lizzy was famous as a celebrity who spoke up against drunk driving. That is why the public’s disappointment doubled when her scandal occurred, and she lost her good reputation.
After admitting all her charges with a 15-million-KRW fine, Lizzy went on hiatus for almost one and a half year. Today, she has found a new agency and seems to be preparing for a comeback.
2. Actress Cho Hye Jung
The next among the Korean female celebrities returning after massive scandal news and controversy is actress Cho Hye Jung.
Cho Hye Jung is the daughter of veteran actor Cho Jae Hyun. Her father was involved in a huge sexual harassment scandal in 2018. Then, after Cho Jae Hyun admitted his misconduct, Cho Hye Jung must also go on hiatus for 5 years even though none of the scandals was her fault.
In July 2022, Cho Hye Jung signed an exclusive contract with BH Entertainment. She then briefly appeared in Our Blues Korean drama as Dal I, carefully returning to the entertainment industry.
Finally, last month, Cho Hye Jung resumed her social media activities and revealed new profile photos with a complete transformation. With a slimmer and healthier body, Cho Hye Jung showed an entirely different visual and was ready to declare her comeback.
3. Former APRIL Lee Na Eun
On the final list of Korean female celebrities returning this year amidst scandal news and controversy is APRIL Lee Na Eun.
Lee Na Eun is finally making a comeback as an actress. She signed an exclusive contract with the prominent Korean acting agency Namoo Actors and declared that instead of being an idol, she would resume her career as an actress.
Previously in April 2021, Lee Na Eun was one of the APRIL members with bullying accusations. At the time, a fellow member Lee Hyun Joo accused her and other APRIL members of bullying and harassment.
While there were indeed arguments and conflicts within the group, there was no evidence of bullying and harassment at the time. However, since the scandal damaged the group’s reputation, APRIL eventually disbanded.
Today, Lee Na Eun is ready to start her new path proudly as an actress. For their New Year’s greeting, Namoo Actors delivered actress Lee Na Eun’s message:
“Hello, I’m actress Lee Na Eun.
My wish for 2023 is that it can be a better tomorrow than today.
Happy New Year, Everyone! And have a prosperous year :)”
Actress Lee Na Eun.
Will The Succeed?
So, do you think these 3 Korean female celebrities will be able to succeed in their comeback this year?
Returning to the entertainment industry especially after massive news of scandal and controversy seems to be almost impossible, but these Korean female celebrities managed to rise above their problems to overcome their fears and chase their dream.
But the question is: while they succeed in taking the first step, will they eventually reach what they had dreamed of? We sure hope so.

I love korena people <3
People shouldn't be punished indefinitely by the public for their crimes (Lizzy). Especially after they do the requisite punishment by law for their crimes, and atone.
People should be punished for the crimes of other people (Cho Hyejung). Her father's sexual harassment charges have no bearing on her character and she shouldn't be punished for it. The embarrassment for her father that she will live forever with is enough, no one else needs to rub it in her face.
People shouldn't be punished for crimes that they didn't even commit (Lee Naeun). Hyunjoo never levied her own lawsuit to try to prove the bullying was true. Everything was just a war or words because Hyunjoo was jealous her career wasn't doing as well as the rest of April members. The prosecutor, during Chaewon's appeal, proved that Hyunjoo lied about Chaewon dating a manager - that's more than enough evidence to question the veracity of the rest of her claims in regards to the bullying accusations. Hyunjoo has also been caught in multiple other provable lies, proving she is a compulsive liar that can not be believed. Hyunjoo lied about DSP forcing her to have a baby voice, but her 2012 audition tapes proves Hyunjoo was called out for singing in her natural voice. And Hyunjoo lied about her own long time school mate Hyosun saying she grabbed her so hard to left a red mark when review of the incident it can be seen that Hyunjoo grabbed Hyosun first, leading to Hyosun to "hold on" and that Hyunjoo herself was the one that jerked Hyosun back - so that any alleged red-mark (that didn't happen anyway) that could have happened, was all Hyunjoo's fault from the beginning, just like the incident that caused the confrontation because Hyunjoo couldn't just move in the first place. Hyunjoo is proven over an over again to be a liar - stop persecuting the victims of her lies!
People **shouldn't** be punished for the crimes of other people (Cho Hyejung).
