Fans Concerns about Any Potential Commercial Motives
This move prompted speculation among fans about potential commercial motives.
Initially, fans raised concerns that the company had entered into a commercial agreement with the temple. They speculated that this move was part of a strategy to promote the Kpop industry.
Additionally, the new memorial was to showcase personal items cherished by Moonbin, along with letters from his friends. This aspect particularly troubled fans. They felt that Moonbin’s life became like a public exhibition.
The memorial’s location at the temple, attracting local and international visitors, further fueled these concerns. Fans expressed discomfort with the idea of Moonbin’s personal life being made into a tourist attraction.
“The new “Moon’s Space” will be located in Seonunsa, a Buddhist temple with a deep history, in Gochang, Jeollabukdo. This is so that we can commeorate him forever, for a longer time, as well as to safely install his ancestral tablet. We will also be displaying the existing post-its and letters, as well as some times that Moonbin treasured during his life in the new “Moon’s Space,” in place of candles.”

Fantagio Denies Commercial Motives
However, Fantagio clarified that there were no financial dealings with the temple. The shift was primarily for safety reasons and to establish a permanent memorial for Moonbin at Gukcheongsa, a part of Seonunsa Temple.
They explained that the decision to relocate the “Moon’s Space” was due to the difficult access to Gukcheongsa, which presented challenges for visitors. Consequently, Fantagio reached an agreement with Seonunsa Temple to establish the memorial there, aiming to provide a more accessible and fitting tribute to the late star.
The label also highlighted that the relocation was also to assist Moonbin’s fans, Aroha, who might need a place to stay unexpectedly, with the temple monks offering space and meals for free. Fantagio emphasized that this was a gesture of goodwill without any commercial intentions.
“Seonunsa is operating a temple stay for domestic and foreign travelers, and also for those want it, they can spend time with Moonbin’s memories. The temple stay program is operated by Seonunsa, separately from Fantagio, and you can take into account the following [homepage link and email] for questions regarding it.”
