Morning of March 21, Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency’s Anti-Corruption & Economic Crime Investigation Team took Mr. A, a high-ranking executive officer from the Incheon Police Agency, into custody on urgent charges.
Authorities believe Mr. A had disclosed confidential details about the progress of actor Lee Sun Kyun’s drug case investigation.
Interestingly, Mr. A’s role was in a different department, not directly linked to the narcotics investigation. Following his arrest, the police carried out another raid at the Incheon Police Agency, specifically targeting the office area of Mr. A’s department. The next steps involve moving Mr. A to the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency for a deeper dive into the leak’s background and to sift through the seized evidence.
A police force representative confirmed the arrest of an officer suspected of leaking the information. However, they refrained from sharing investigation specifics.
“We’ve indeed brought in the police officer who we suspect leaked details of the investigation. We apologize, but we can’t share any details about the investigation’s progress.”

Media first reported on Lee Sun Kyun’s involvement with drugs in October last year. Sadly, just four days after his third police interview, the actor was found deceased in December. Because of this, the Incheon Police asked the Gyeonggi Southern Police for help to understand how the news leaked to the public. Following this, on January 22, there were searches at the Incheon Police’s Drug Crime Unit and media offices that reported on Lee Sun Kyun.
