South Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom has just unveiled a new Kpop service for its metaverse platform. On June 9, SK Telecom announced they would open the ‘Kpop Hotel,’ a fan community in ifland. This fan community deeply integrates the unique concepts of each idol group using 3D/XR (extended reality) features of the metaverse.
SK Telecom to Create a Metaverse Kpop Hotel
After previously facilitating the debut of a new girl group, Triple iz, and successfully releasing “Halla,” SK Telecom will create an exciting experience for fans.
SK Telecom metaverse platform, ifland, offers a fan community service with a hotel-style space. On each floor, fans can meet different Kpop groups and solo artists.
The Kpop hotel includes spaces such as the ‘Intro Screen,’ which offers views of the entire hotel floor. The homepage screen is a space where you can quickly check and follow the idols who have checked in from floors 1 to 99. The number of floors is determined by the number chosen by the artist.
At the ‘Artist Lounge,’ each idol checks in at their respective floor from 1 to 99. Here, fans can engage with various content of each artist, such as artist boards, a large art wall, and volumetric features. Not only that, fans can also get the unique experience of dressing the artists’ mannequins in various costumes.
Meanwhile, the ‘Member Room’ features characteristics specific to each member. Additionally, fans can enjoy exclusive content, such as a secret frame that will be revealed after solving a quiz related to the member and the artist’s volumetric 3D motion.
Ifland Kpop Hotel as A New Global Hub for Fans and Kpop Artists
Furthermore, SK Telecom plans to enhance the Kpop hotel service by integrating artificial intelligence. The company will also introduce various fan missions with prizes. The missions will be assigned every two to three weeks with prizes like signed CDs or invitations to meet-and-greet events with the artists.
“Three-dimensional artist-related content and fan missions on our platform ifland will bolster communication between fans and artists, and among fans themselves. Kpop Hotel will become a new global hub for fans and artists to connect.”
Yang Maeng-seog, head of metaverse operations at SKT.
The Kpop Guests at ifland Kpop Hotel
The first guest of this hotel is the global group aespa, who checked in on floor 99. Meanwhile, the representative girl group of Ifland, Iflandies, checked in on floor 2.
Additionally, RIIZE and Sandara Park are scheduled to check in sequentially at the end of June and September, respectively.
