On September 2, Korean news agency TV Chosun reported that the mother of actress Han So Hee had been arrested for illegal gambling operations.
According to the report, the prosecutors had to arrest the mother of actress Han So Hee, Ms. Shin, for having operated illegal gambling dens. Previously, Ms. Shin had reportedly operated 12 illegal gaming parlors in Ulsan, Wonju, and other locations from 2021 until the end of last month.
The report further elaborated on the case. Details stated that at the gambling den that Han So Hee’s mother had set up, the customers would access a gambling website, of which she became the head distributor. They would put money into their accounts to play games like baccarat, which is a type of gambling.
Moreover, reports also mentioned that Ms. Shin would use other people to manage these places. That way, she wouldn’t be directly involved in these operations.

Further in the report, TV Chosun also revealed the previous criminal records that happened to Han So Hee’s mother. According to TV Chosun, Ms. Shin had once been fined for a similar charge, as well as previous offenses such as fraud.

Han So Hee’s parents divorced when she was five years old, and she was raised by her grandmother. Even after transferring to a school in Ulsan, where her mother resided, upon entering high school, she continued living with her grandmother.
After graduating, Han So Hee moved to Seoul and reportedly had infrequent contact with her mother.
Nonetheless, four years ago, she apologized for her mother’s “debt scandal” out of moral responsibility. She also revealed that, as a duty-bound child, she had repaid some of the debts.
