On top of all those impressive solo activities, the most highly-anticipated moment was the upcoming debut of BLACKPINK Lisa as a Hollywood actress in “The White Lotus” Season 3.
And yet, before Lisa even glimpsed an appearance in the series, “The White Lotus” Season 3 has already faced massive backlash and controversy.
On August 5, HBO releases a short teaser and a series of still-cut photos of its upcoming original series, “The White Lotus” Season 3. Although BLACKPINK Lisa has yet to appear in these teasers, they have raised massive anticipation from global fans, with the high expectations of Lisa’s acting debut and her character in the series.
And yet, after seeing the still-cut photos and teaser video, it only resulted in an unexpected controversy.
Behind the Controversy – Was it REALLY an Issue?
While the anticipation has been incredibly massive after the first report on BLACKPINK Lisa debut as an actress in “The White Lotus” Season 3, global fans immediately felt disappointed after the teasers came out.
Why? Because all the still-cut photos and the teaser video used the infamous yellow filter color.
This may seem trivial for some people, but avid movie enthusiasts would immediately notice that Hollywood frequently features this color to portray the situations and circumstances happening in underdeveloped and developing countries, to form a contrasting image from the big cities and superpower nations. Indeed, this is a similar case to the previous issue happening to “Reborn Rich” and its allegedly disrespectful portrayal of Istanbul.
And so once the teaser circulated on the internet and social media, global netizens welcomed them with massive criticism. That is because the series has portrayed Thailand as a dull and dirty country.
