Is it YG’s Genius Strategy?
Since the beginning of their final evaluation, BABYMONSTER members have become the center of attention among 5th Kpop groups. Not only does the group feature highly talented members that captivate fans, but they also carry the legacy of their predecessor, BLACKPINK. Moreover, the existence of YG’s monster trainee Ahyeon and her powerful talents and all-rounded skills elevated fans’ expectations of this group.
Unfortunately, just slightly before its debut, Ahyeon encountered an unexpected controversy. Due to the issue, YG decided to pull her from the BABYMONSTER debut lineup, causing them to release the music with only 6 members. This created massive speculation about whether Ahyeon had really left the group and the company altogether.
Then, on January 25, YG Entertainment’s CEO Yang Hyun Suk surprised Kpop fans by announcing that BABYMONSTER would make a comeback with 7 members. After improving her health, Ahyeon would finally return, and the new Kpop female group would remake all the previous songs with OT7 formations.
Now, the question remains: was it all part of YG Entertainment’s plans? With all the issues involving their most anticipated member, Ahyeon, BABYMONSTER immediately rose to Kpop’s top tier groups. Despite their lack of content and promotional activities following their debut release, YG managed to maintainthe group’s fame on top of other rookie girl groups. And it’s not only their exceptional talents that keep the members on top but also all the drama following their exposure.
But what about you? Do you think everything was part of YG’s plans? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
