Hard Work Paid Off After a Controversy of Anna Korean Drama Starring Bae Suzy and Jung Eun Chae
Previously, Anna Korean drama starring Bae Suzy became the center of a dispute with its broadcasting platform, Coupang Play. Without the director’s and the production team’s consent, Coupang Play reassembled the whole series of Anna Korean drama starring Bae Suzy and Jung Eun Chae.
This issue then resulted in the director and production team boycotting Anna Korean drama. They then released the Director’s Cut version of Anna, which contains the original series.
Director Revealed the Hectic Filming with Bae Suzy and Other Cast + Challenges Due to the Drama Controversy
During her acceptance speech, director Lee Joo Young revealed the hectic filming process of Anna Korean drama starring Bae Suzy and Jung Eun Chae.
According to the director, the filming process only took 7 months, and they must work around the casts’ busy schedule just as they had planned.
However, once the drama was released, the cast and production team didn’t get the chance to talk about the challenging process due to the editing controversy with Coupang Play. So the director took the opportunity to speak about how Bae Suzy and Jung Eun Chae’s acting were even better than they had originally expected.
“The filming of Anna’s Director Cut took place last year with only 7 months of process. Nevertheless, we managed to accomplish the difficult schedule, all thanks to the skills and will of the staff and actors.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t do any interviews, let alone talk about my actors and staff due to an incident. So, I’d like to thank Bae Suzy, Jung Eun Chae, and Kim Jun Han for their incredible three-dimensional acting that was even better than the scenario.”

No More Director’s Cut
Finally, Anna Korean drama director Lee Joo Young expressed her wishes that no more director’s cut would be necessary to prove the true value of a director’s original work. Furthermore, she expressed her gratitude to her legal representative for accompanying her on the challenging path she had to take to make Anna Director’s Cut happen.
“Also, I want to thank my legal representative, who had helped me publicize the existence of Anna Director’s Cut. Honestly, I feel so strange.
In fact, I believe that the director’s cut should be a ‘silent work’. And I hope no more director’s cut releases would be necessary to bring out the true value of the original work.
I truly do not want to suspect anyone ever again. So, I hope all creators would continue to work hard without losing their will and value.
Thank you so much for acknowledging the meaning of my work. I am grateful to receive this award.”
