NewJeans Secures the #1 Spot on the August 2023 Top 50 Kpop Idol Group Brand Reputation Rankings
The Korean Business Research Institute recently conducted a comprehensive analysis to determine the rankings for the top 50 Kpop idol groups in August 2023. The analysis included both Kpop boy and girl idol groups.
For this analysis, a total of 88,715,789 pieces of big data related to idol groups were collected from July 15 to August 15, 2023. It increased by 14.98% compared to last July’s 77,159,626 pieces of idol group brand big data.
Moreover, the institute utilized big data to analyze consumer behavior regarding brand consumption. They measured indices such as brand participation, media coverage, communication volume, and community engagement to determine the brand reputation index for idol groups. Finally, the institute used the index to determine the brand reputation rankings of the month’s Kpop idol groups.
This month, NewJeans, BTS, IVE, SEVENTEEN, and ZEROBASEONE claimed the top five positions in August’s idol group rankings. Their rankings represent their current influence and popularity.
Top 5 Most Popular Kpop Idol Groups
1. NewJeans
- Brand participation index 1,222,836
- Media Index 2,603,624
- Communication index 2,793,165
- Community Index 3,381,402
Kpop idol group NewJeans secured first place in the idol group brand reputation rankings for August 2023, with a brand reputation index of 10,001,027. This figure represents a 67.47% increase from July’s 5,971,913.
In addition to their impressive brand reputation index, NewJeans, the Kpop idol group, has been making waves in the industry. The link analysis revealed that the group is often associated with terms such as “participate,” “perform,” and “record.”
Furthermore, in the keyword analysis, “Jamboree,” “Billboard,” and “Supershy” were identified as NewJeans’ top-ranked keywords. The group also received a positive sentiment rate of 91.89% in the positive-negativity analysis.
Additionally, ADOR’s girl group recently showcased their talent at two major events, namely LOLLAPALOOZA and The World Scout Jamboree “K-Pop Super Live.”
2. BTS

The septet group, BTS, achieved a brand reputation index of 6,497,937 in August. It decreased 4.07% from 6,773,406 in July.
In addition to the brand reputation index, BTS members continue to give their best ahead of their enlistment dates. Jungkook successfully released his solo single “SEVEN” last month and is preparing to release his mini album in November.
Meanwhile, Suga, who recently completed his “D-DAY” encore concerts, is preparing for his military service enlistment. Additionally, V recently dropped two pre-released music videos, “Love Me Again” and “Rainy Days,” ahead of his solo album release on September 8, 2023.

Kpop girl group IVE’s brand reputation index increased by 22.91% from 3,982,683 in July to 4,895,215 in August.
In addition to their impressive increase in brand reputation index, IVE, the Kpop girl group, has been making significant strides in their career. Recently, the group announced their highly anticipated first-ever world tour, “SHOW WHAT I HAVE.” Scheduled for their forthcoming comeback in October, the group’s tour will kick off on October 7 at Seoul’s Jamsil Indoor Stadium. Furthermore, IVE recently showcased their talent as one of the Kpop performers at The World Scout Jamboree “K-Pop Super Live” on Friday, June 11.

PLEDIS Entertainment’s boy group, SEVENTEEN, secured fourth place this month with a brand reputation index of 4,522,941. This figure marks an impressive 28.32% increase from July’s 3,524,694.
In recent news, SEVENTEEN’s official YouTube channel has reached over 10 million subscribers. This achievement solidifies their position as the fifth most-subscribed Kpop boy group, following BTS, BIGBANG, Stray Kids, and TXT. Furthermore, this significant milestone further highlights their continued global popularity.

ZEROBASEONE, WAKEONE Entertainment’s newly debuted idol group, made its debut on the idol group brand reputation rankings this month. They secured fifth place with a brand reputation index of 3,563,668. Moreover, the rookie group achieved the fifth-highest first-week sales of any artist in Hanteo history with their debut album “YOUTH IN THE SHADE.”
