BABYMONSTER, YG new girl group, will reportedly debut with only 6 members. So, what happened to Ahyeon, and why did YG cancel her debut with BABYMONSTER despite being the ace of the group? Was it really because of the previous controversy that went viral against BABYMONSTER Ahyeon? Dive deeper into BABYMONSTER and Ahyeon’s issues in the following report.
YG New Girl Group, BABYMONSTER to Debut with 6 Members
The new Kpop girl group from YG Entertainment, BABYMONSTER, has recently taken the lead in major entertainment industry news due to the controversy and issues surrounding its debut.
After encountering repeated delays in the debut date, YG Entertainment has revealed that instead of the original 7-personnel ensemble, BABYMONSTER will debut with 6 members only.
On November 15, News1’s exclusive report revealed that BABYMONSTER would reportedly debut with 6 members only. The announcement further revealed that Ahyeon is absent from BABYMONSTER’s debut lineup.
Ahyeon Debut Cancelation Reason: Was it Because of the Controversy?
In addition to the announcement, News1 also stated that Ahyeon canceled her debut with BABYMONSTER due to health reasons.
An official from YG Entertainment confirmed the reason in an official statement. According to YG, Ahyeon is taking a break to focus on recovering her health.
“BABYMONSTER is set to debut as a six-member group including Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Haram, Rora, and Chiquita.
Following thorough discussions, the team has decided that Ahyeon, who trained alongside BABYMONSTER, will currently take a break to focus on her health.
While it’s disappointing not to present Ahyeon as part of BABYMONSTER, we prioritized her health in making this decision. We are committed to providing all necessary support to ensure Ahyeon’s complete recovery and healthy return.”

The Controversy Surrounding BABYMONSTER Ahyeon
But was it really? Is there any more reason behind why Ahyeon canceled the debut plan with BABYMONSTER?
Ahyeon was a famous trainee of YG who joined the evaluation debut for the new girl group, BABYMONSTER. Since her first appearance, she has been captivating fans with her confidence and stage presence.
Many even believed she would carry on Jennie’s legacy as the ace of not just the group but also of YG. After all, as a new trainee, Ahyeon already demonstrated high-quality skills and talents in various areas: singing, dancing, rapping, visuals, stage presence, and even showed potential as the leader of YG’s new girl group.
Unfortunately, a recent controversy emerged slightly after the end of the BABYMONSTER evaluation. Ahyeon was under massive criticism for a performance that contained racial slurs. This performance went viral, resulting in massive controversy and criticism against BABYMONSTER Ahyeon.

Will Ahyeon Join YG New Girl Group, BABYMONSTER, And Its 6 Members in the Future?
Due to the controversy, Ahyeon had been receiving massive backlash despite being the ace of BABYMONSTER. That is why the public believes that the controversy and criticism have resulted in the worsening health condition of BABYMONSTER Ahyeon.
Still, News1 also reported that there would still be chances that Ahyeon will join the remaining 6 BABYMONSTER members in the future. It’s just that her health condition does not allow her to debut with the new girl group today.
And since BABYMONSTER had gone through too many delays in their debut previously, another postponement would be impossible.
However, fans are also in doubt that Ahyeon will eventually return to BABYMONSTER. After all, speculations have been going on that Ahyeon would not debut with YG new girl group after her missing appearance due to the controversy.
Most importantly, a similar issue previously happened at YG. A former YG trainee named Julie Han had reportedly left the company due to the same controversy.
Therefore, fans are highly skeptical that Ahyeon would return with the YG new girl group in the future.
