BABYMONSTER Releases New Teaser for 2024 Comeback
When discussing the next generation Kpop who’s worthy and promising with their impressive trend and quality, you will immediately find the name of BABYMONSTER at the top of the list.
Not only the group impressively captivated fans with their catchy music and explosive performance, BABYMONSTER proves to be whole new different idols with their iconic paradox concept of cute baby and powerful monster, along with their exceptional authentic skills in vocal, rap, and dancing, which most of new generation idols considered lacking nowadays.
Even with the forced debut and re-debut issues, BABYMONSTER continues to dominate the 5th generation Kpop with their alluring concepts and impressive professionalism despite their young age.
As the group is gearing up for a new comeback next month, fans have been highly anticipated since the first teaser and release date announcement. And the excitement escalated even more when the group eventually revealed the title and concept: a fairytale of “FOREVER.”
You can see two shiny, silver high heels that totally remind you of Cinderella’s glass slippers in the teaser image – super dreamy, right? Next to them, there’s this fancy envelope with a black ribbon, like you’re being invited to some mysterious, enchanting event. The whole scene has this soft, light background that makes everything look so ethereal and timeless. It’s got that perfect mix of fantasy and endless wonder that just screams “FOREVER.”
Now, the problem lies when BABYMONSTER releases another teaser image after this one.
An Unexpected Issue and Controversy
On June 21 KST, BABYMONSTER dropped a brand-new poster, but this time, it had a completely different vibe.
Styled like a magazine cover, the teaser featured the members front and center, surrounded by various text blocks filled with details about the track. It included song credits and even small touches like barcodes and copyright info.
As soon as the photo hit social media, netizens had mixed reactions. Some fans thought there was no reason for the backlash and saw it as just another reason to hate. However, many others criticized YG for a lack of creativity and innovation, feeling that the teaser didn’t do justice to the members’ talent and potential.
Criticisms from Fans
Hence, the criticism was immediately directed at YG Entertainment for failing this promising new group for the hundredth of times. Previously, YG had failed BABYMONSTER by creating similar images, leading to the accusations that BABYMONSTER is just another YG’s recycled product.
This time, YG Entertainment created another controversy for BABYMONSTER new comeback with the outdated concept. Thank goodness the members managed to pull it off fabulously!
- “Maybe it’s because the girls pull it off so well, but it actually doesn’t look that bad.”
- “It kind of looks like something from 2020, but the members are really pretty!”
- “Other agencies are going all out with trends, but YG feels like it’s stuck in the past.”
- “It’s definitely not keeping up with the current trends…”
- “Hmm… The members are gorgeous, but it feels like an older women’s magazine spread haha.”
- “What’s up with the font?”
- “I don’t know… Maybe because people keep saying it’s bad, it seems bad? To me, it just looks average.”
- “Looks like something I threw together on PowerPoint…”
- “It’s not the worst… But honestly, fans could probably do a better job hahaha.”
- “It looks like it’s from a 2009 High Cut magazine. Are those outfits the best they could come up with? Honestly, it looks like something a company president’s wife would wear in a K-Drama. Way too much glitter.”
- “Are we living in 2010? It’s always a font issue, in my opinion.”
- “They should hire new designers.”
Still, what do you think? Was YG really outdated? Or was it just fans overreacting? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
