Renowned singer and actress, Bae Suzy, will participate as a global ambassador in a new global project, Hanbok Wave 2023, which aimed at promoting Korea’s traditional attire, hanbok, on an international scale.

According to a report from Korea JoongAng Daily on June 15th, the Nation’s first Love, Bae Suzy, has been appointed as the ambassador for the Hanbok Wave project 2023. In her role as ambassador, the multi-talented idol-actress, Suzy, will proudly present a variety of hanboks created by talented designers.
Moreover, the 28-year-old singer-actress Suzy will promote them through diverse platforms for a broader audience. Amusingly, the promotional campaign will also feature on the iconic billboard advertisements in New York Times Square.
According to a press release by the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, their objective is to create hanboks that captivate people in Korea and abroad.
The government plans to select and fund six enterprises to design 10 hanboks each. The aim is to preserve the traditional essence and forms of hanbok, while also tailoring it to suit Suzy’s unique style and preferences.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Republic of Korea and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation will host a promotional event to unveil the selected hanbok designs in the second half of 2023. This event will showcase the result of their collaborative works to the public.
Ambassadors of Hanbok Wave Project 2021 & 2022
Previously, Kpop groups Brave Girls (now known as BB Girls) and DKB were selected to join the project in 2021. Moreover, Yuna Kim, a South Korean figure skater, joined the project in 2022.
