Huge Issues Against Stray Kids with Problematic Statement
The first problematic statement from Billboard Magazine that raises huge issues against Stray Kids was its rude reference to Hyunjin’s bullying scandal.
“Hyunjin — who was involved in a controversy related to bullying allegations and took a four-month hiatus from the group following a formal apology in early 2021,”
Billboard.
Last year, Stray Kids Hyunjin had indeed gotten involved in a bullying scandal that took him to go on hiatus. However, Hyunjin had apologized sincerely and took responsibility while reflecting on his past mistakes. And after his highly-anticipated comeback, Hyunjin had proven to make an enormous effort in delivering the best performance and personality in every one of Stray Kids activities.
Still, since the cover story was supposed to talk about Stray Kids success and achievements, fans are upset about the rude and unnecessary reference to Hyunjin’s personal life. Let alone unprofessionally inserting such personal facts in the middle of an interview that is irrelevant to the topic.
Since such issues became viral on social media, Billboard Magazine has revised the statement but didn’t remove references to Hyunjin’s personal life.
“Hyunjin — who took a brief hiatus from the group in 2021, after sharing his “deepest apologies” for rumors about inconsiderate behavior in his youth.”
Billboard’s revised statement.
Billboard Magazine Unprofessionally Dragged BTS into Stray Kids Cover Story – Fans Are Furious!
As if it was not enough to trigger anger from Stray Kids fans, Billboard Magazine tried to bring another fandom into their unprofessionalism: BTS ARMY.
In a passage of Stray Kids cover story, Billboard Magazine created huge issues by unnecessarily comparing Stray Kids to BTS. In addition, fans believed mentioning BTS individual activities means that the magazine has disrespected Stray Kids and all their accomplishments.
Fans also believe that Billboard disrespectfully implied that Stray Kids was able to make it this far by seizing opportunities. And they did it while BTS is not actively promoting as a group.
“BTS, the group responsible for nearly one-third of all K-pop sales and streams in the United States over the past 18 months, recently pressed pause on group activities — the outfit had gone nonstop for a few years, and required military service loomed for some members — creating something of a void (at least temporarily) at the top of the genre.”
Billboard.
BTS ARMY is FURIOUS Too!
While you might think Billboard had created fan wars between two of the largest Kpop fandoms, it was apparently not.
Instead, both BTS ARMY and Stray Kids STAY were furious with Billboard Magazine for creating such unnecessary issues. That is especially when Billboard Magazine compared Stray Kids’s songs with BTS’s songs. But they compared it only to BTS English songs, “Dynamite” and “Butter”. At the same time, we know that BTS already had a massive collection of discographies for almost a decade.
But still, both sides believed that comparing Stray Kids to BTS in an interview that was supposed to highlight Stray Kids’ achievements was rude, unprofessional, and unnecessary.
“Yet one listen to Oddinary would demonstrate to casual fans that Stray Kids sound nothing like BTS, which broke boundaries for Korean artists in North America by crossing over with disco-inflected pop smashes like “Dynamite” and “Butter” before announcing a temporary group break in June.
Stray Kids, on the other hand, approach pop by way of rap, rock and electronica, exploring trap, G-funk, punk and even a little industrial.
Those expecting standard boy-band fare would be surprised to hear “Lonely St.” sounding Warped Tour-ready or that “Muddy Water” is closer to Odd Future than *NSYNC.”
Billboard.
"Stray Kids have become the right boy band at the right time…"

Is the Billboard article implying SKZ is gonna be "the face" of kpop now cz BTS has their hiatus? What? Stop comparing other kpop artists. BTS is always brought up, let them breathe. Skz is still doing incredible
why can’t billboard praise skz without the backhanded and blatantly wrong comments about bts pic.twitter.com/0rCrRFWbWu

I adore skz and have heard bang chan expressing his love for bts so this is completely billboards fault. what the actual fuck. this is so disrespectful and telling of how much bb hates bts. https://t.co/GVDqMX1Ibk

Don’t worry, this is all BBs fault. Stray Kids are really talented and genuine, and everything I’ve seen of Stay’s is very nice💜 As an Army myself, I’ve seen how some in the music industry treat BTS, and I really hope Stay’s don’t have to be treated that way too💜
