According to BLACKPINK, there are several critical issues to which we need to pay the utmost attention. After all, growing up in the digital age makes us all connected, especially when we’re all watching our mother earth growing sicker and sicker each day.
“We are growing up in a planet that, every day since we were born, has gotten sicker and sicker. And since our generation is also the best connected, and because we will be around to see how this story unfolds, we have to be more aware of this environmental crisis.”
BLACKPINK Jisoo.
Therefore, BLACKPINK members ask fans and everyone who’s watching their speech to raise awareness of the following issues.
Waste Pollution
Firstly, BLACKPINK Rosé began by mentioning how much the Earth has suffered from waste pollution.
“I realized the seriousness of this problem after noticing the amount of waste the earth is collecting each year.”
BLACKPINK Rosé.
Air Pollution
Secondly, BLACKPINK Lisa stated in her native Thai language that air pollution has also become even more and more harmful.
“This problem has never been more important to me since realizing how harmful air pollution has become.”
BLACKPINK Lisa.
Melting Polar Ice Caps
Next, BLACKPINK Jisoo mentioned how rapidly the polar ice caps have melted.
“I woke up to these issues when I saw the rapid melting of the polar ice caps.”
BLACKPINK Jisoo.
Destruction of Amazon Rainforest
As for BLACKPINK Jennie, she began raising awareness of this issue after hearing about the destruction of the Amazon rainforest.
“For me, it was hearing about the destruction of the Amazon.”
BLACKPINK Jennie.
BLACKPINK: Raise Your Voice at the COP26 Conference
Finally, BLACKPINK calls everyone to join them and raise our voice at the COP26 climate change conference. Leaders of the world will gather at this conference from November 1 to 12 in Glasgow, UK.
“This November, the leaders of the world will gather in Glasgow – UK at the climate change conference COP26. Let’s let them know they must take measures to halt climate change.”
BLACKPINK Rosé.
That is why BLACKPINK invites us to raise our voice and let these leaders understand more about how critical it is for them to act right away. Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa also ask everyone to speak as one until we can take that responsibility on our own. So, therefore, let us all step up together.
“Speaking as one, we must voice our thoughts on the current state of the Earth until we can take on that responsibility ourselves. Because the next critical moment is coming up very fast.”
BLACKPINK Rosé.
“STAY” Live Performance
In addition to the campaign, BLACKPINK also presented a live performance of their pride song, “STAY”. Surrounded by the Earth’s magnificent wonders virtually, BLACKPINK performed their song solemnly as if they wanted us to truly understand the importance of climate change.
