Kpop fans, it’s a fantastic year for the Kpop industry! Following the news of BTS becoming a Youth Representative at the United Nations, today BLACKPINK has set another achievement as the first-ever Asian Artist selected as the Sustainable Development Goals Advocate for the United Nations.
On September 18, the United Nations official social media account posted a welcome for BLACKPINK into the United Nations family as the Sustainable Development Goals advocate. Furthermore, the gorgeous Kpop girl group was appointed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres.

BLACKPINK as the First Asian Artist Selected as SDGs Advocate for the United Nations
After the appointment announcement, various media reported that BLACKPINK’s achievement marks the first time for Asian artists selected as the Sustainable Development Goals Advocate for the United Nations.
In addition to BLACKPINK, the United Nations has selected 15 other prominent figures as the Sustainable Development Goals Advocates, including Brad Smith (the President of Microsoft Corporations) and Kailash Satyarthi (Nobel Peace Laureate, Founder of Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation).
