Our days of wondering and speculating are finally over. BLACKPINK main vocalist, Rosé, finally sets her mind to continue her solo activities. Instead of founding her own agency like the other BLACKPINK sisters, Rosé decided to sign a solo contract with YG’s associate company, THE BLACK LABEL. But why, though? Isn’t it better to have an agency of her own after she made it that big? Join our discussion in the following report.
BLACKPINK Rosé to Sign Solo Contract with THE BLACK LABEL Agency
Rosé, the brilliant vocalist of girl group sensation BLACKPINK, is reportedly signing a solo contract with Teddy’s company, THE BLACK LABEL agency.
On June 17, Korean media outlet Newsen reported that Rosé had been planning to join Teddy’s THE BLACK LABEL. It is a company Teddy founded in 2016. Once a subsidiary label of YG, the company managed to rise higher with its prominent artists, including BIGBANG Taeyang, Jeon Somi, Zion.T, and actors Park Bo Gum and Lee Jong Won.
Responding to the circulating reports, Teddy’s THE BLACK LABEL then confirmed the news on the same day. According to the company, they had indeed been discussing an exclusive solo contract with BLACKPINK Rosé.
“We are indeed working on discussing and preparing an exclusive contract for Rosé.”

Why Teddy’s Company?
Over the last 8 years, Rosé has been building an impressive journey in the global entertainment industry. Not only as a member of BLACKPINK, but Rosé has also been a prominent figure with her solo activities as a musician and fashion icon. That is why when all 3 members of BLACKPINK founded their own companies: Jennie with OA, Lisa with LLOUD, and Jisoo with BLISSOO, many had expected Rosé to proceed with a similar path.
So, why THE BLACK LABEL? Why did BLACKPINK Rosé choose to sign a solo contract with Teddy’s company instead?
The answer is simple: it’s Teddy.
For about 10 years since their time at YG Entertainment, Rosé and Teddy had been close colleagues who actively exchanged musical ideas. Not only that but Teddy has produced the majority of BLACKPINK’s hit songs, starting with their debut singles “Whistle” and “Boombayah” in 2016, driving their global popularity. It even brought the global nickname that Teddy was the 5th member of BLACKPINK.
In the 2020 Netflix documentary “BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky,” BLACKPINK, including Rosé, spoke highly of Teddy, stating, “He listens to our stories, catches new directions, and always guides us positively. In our hearts, he is the fifth member of BLACKPINK.”
Most importantly, Teddy was the one producing Rosé’s solo tracks, “On The Ground,” “Gone,” and “Hard to Love,.”
Truly, the two artists have made such a highly compatible team in music production. And so, continuing the collaboration needs no more questions asked.
Focusing on the Music, Not Management
Plus, being an artist is not always in line with being an entrepreneur. While the other BLACKPINK members seemed to have no problem living the double roles, Rosé had always been famous as the most enthusiastic musician among the rest of the BLACKPINK members.
That is why signing a solo contract with Teddy’s company will allow Rosé to focus on the music she loves the most. Not bothering herself with the hassle of managing a company.
Finally, do you think this deal will finally come through? What are your thoughts on the collaboration between Rosé and Teddy? Please share them in the comments.
