On September 4, YG Entertainment announced BLACKPINK’s “THE ALBUM” preorder had already over 800,000 stock. 530,000 preorders from domestic, and 270,000 preorders from the United States and Europe.
As soon as the preorder began for the limited edition of “THE ALBUM” LP, it sold-out right away. Moreover, the regular album preorders also exceeded the initial expected amount, so the agency needed to produce more albums.

On October 26, YG Entertainment officially announced that BLACKPINK’s first full album “THE ALBUM” sales had reached a total of 1,209,543 copies.
The total number includes sales in South Korea, the United States, and Europe. BLACKPINK “THE ALBUM” has sold approximately 871,355 copies sold in South Korea, and 319,300 copies have been sold in the United States and Europe. Also, 18,888 copies of the limited-edition LPs were sold out instantly.
With the record-breaking album sales, the quartet earned the title of ‘Million Seller.’ Moreover, they also make history as the first Kpop girl group with best-album selling more than 1 million copies. Previously, the record was owned by S.E.S ‘Love’ with over 760,000 copies sold in 1999.
After BLACKPINK ‘The Album’ released on October 2, it has topped the iTunes Album Charts in 57 countries. It also rose quickly as the first Kpop girl group’s album to debut at no.2 on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Official Singles Top 100.
Moreover, they became the first Kpop girl group to debut at no.1 on Billboard’s Artist 100 chart and successfully hit the top 10 of Billboard’s main album chart for three weeks straight.
