BTS “Butter” Sets Historic Record as it Tops Billboard Hot 100 Chart for the Ninth Week
After “Life Goes On,” BTS back on the chart on June 5 with their single ‘Butter,’ which went straight to No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100’ chart and maintaining the top for seven consecutive weeks. Further, their new song,’ “Permission to Dance,” took No.1 (chart dated July 24, 2021).
In last week’s chart, the group has made history again by replacing themselves on top of the chart for two weeks in a row. BTS “Butter” back at No.1 and “Permission to Dance” on No.7. Marking “Butter” topped the Hot 100 for the eighth week.
As per chart date August 2021, there are two BTS songs, “Butter” at No.1 and “Permission to Dance” at No.9 on the Hot 100 chart. In their career, BTS has got a total of 15 weeks at No 1 of the Billboard Hot 100 with five songs; ‘Dynamite’ (3 times), Savage Love (1 time), Life Goes On (1 time), ‘Butter’ (9 times), and ‘Permission to Dance’ (1 time).

BTS’ New Historic Record
After reclaiming the top of the ‘Hot 100,’ BTS’ Butter’ is still going strong on the top spot on the newest charts for the second week in a row (as of July 31). The single is spending its ninth week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in total.
It has officially surpassed Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” as the “longest-leading hit of 2021.” Earlier, from January to March, “Drivers License” held the top spot for eight weeks.
According to MRC Data via Billboard, “Butter” has received 30.5 million radio airplay audience impressions (down 1%) and 8.1 million U.S. streams (down 8%) in the weekly count until July 29.
Furthermore, BTS holds the top two spots on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart for the third week in a row, with “Butter” at No.1 and “Permission to Dance” at No.2. In particular, ‘Butter’ topped the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart for the ninth time.
Moreover, BTS also sets a new historic record on the Billboard as the only group that tops the “Hot 100” that placing five songs at No.1 on the ‘Hot 100’ in ten months and two weeks. Michael Jackson set first place with nine months and two weeks in 1987-88.
In 62-year Billboard history, BTS “Butter” also becomes one of songs, which went straight to No.1 as soon as it entered the chart and remained at the top for more than seven weeks.
