On BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, BTS performed a cover of ‘I’ll Be Missing You,’ alongside their English singles ‘Dynamite’ and ‘Permission to Dance.’ The septet also added Korean rap verses from Suga and J-Hope, which delivered a positive message amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
BTS ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ BBC Radio 1 Deep Message
BTS leader, RM, stated that he felt hesitancy and burden to cover ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ by Puff Daddy, Faith Evans, and 112.
“It was a tribute, so you know, at first, we kind of like had some burdens in our mind since it’s a tribute to the legend Notorious B.I.G….”
RM
‘I’ll Be Missing You’ was originally a tribute for Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G” Wallace (also known as Biggie Smalls or Biggie) after the tragic death in 1997 from a murder. Therefore, the song holds a significant meaning.
I’ll be missing you is such an important song to black people and now bts covering it, a song that gave so much comfort to black people around the world. I’m so happy and emotional

Suga wrote how people are living in uncertainty nowadays.
We’re now used to our routines taken away
Suga
But still can’t give up living on
We’re more worn out because we don’t know where this ends
We’re an island we made ourselves because we couldn’t trust each other
However, Suga reminded all of us to stay positive and never lose hope.
Hope an end comes for this tiring pandemic virus
Suga
Negative thoughts can sometimes be a minus
I knew it wasn’t the end so I couldn’t say bye
When that day comes, will say ‘Hi’ like nothing happened
With a similar tone, J-Hope also wishes for a better life after the pandemic ends, and promises to see ARMY again.
I hate this world, our traces became memories
J-Hope
I just empty my mind, trust without conditions
I fill it every day with just loneliness
Not like the longing that encircles me
We miss you, baby
Whenever it may be, here’s hoping we meet again
I promise
