Kim Seokjin (BTS Jin) as First Torchbearer
Jin took part as the first torchbearer in the torch relay for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. This event took place on July 14, which is also the day of the French National Day, Bastille Day.
The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics torch relay attracted a large crowd of supporters. At first, Jin appeared with the official white torchbearer uniform, sparking enthusiastic cheers and applause. Subsequently, the singer received the Olympic flame from the preceding runner, who arrived on a bicycle.
Then, he carried the torch from Rue de Rivoli to Carrousel Square, a significant route in Paris. Jin passed the flame to Sandra Laoura, who is a former French freestyle skiing champion. This exchange took place at the Louvre Pyramid, marking the end of Jin’s approximately 10-minute segment of the relay. To conclude, Jin bid farewell to the spectators to complete his participation.
BTS Jin’s Message
Through BIGHIT MUSIC, Jin expressed,
“I am honored to be part of this important event. Thanks to ARMY (BTS’s fan club), I had the wonderful opportunity to carry the torch. Thank you all.”
He added,
“I felt nervous and lost track of time. However, with the supportive crowd, I did my best and successfully completed the relay.”
Jin expressed his aspirations for the athletes by saying,
“I hope that all the members of the South Korean national team achieve outstanding success as a result of their hard work. I will wholeheartedly cheer for them. Additionally, I anticipate sustained interest in the forthcoming ‘17th Paris Paralympics’ in August.”
He wrapped up by stating,
“I am committed to persevering and presenting my best to you.”
