BTS RM Didn’t Do His Best, Yet His TOEIC Score is Mindblowing

I wish I could borrow RM’s brain. Who else is with me? He is indeed a genius. BTS RM got a mind-blowing TOEIC score just by learning it by himself, but he felt a bit disappointed.

What is TOEIC?

 Test of English for International Communications or TOEIC is one of the most well-known English language tests in South Korea.

Most people take TOEIC to get into the desired university or apply for a job overseas. However, our genius BTS RM likes taking English tests for fun!

How is BTS RM English score?

RM TEPS

At 15 years old, after studying in New Zealand, RM took his first English test (TEPS – Test of English Proficiency). RM got a score of 797 out of 990.

RM TOEIC Score

Around the same time, BTS RM took a TOEIC exam and scored an almost-perfect in listening. Overall, RM TOEIC score at that time was 850 out of 990.

July last year, RM took another TOEIC again after 10 years. The reason? Just for fun! On Weverse, he shared a snap one of the questions.

And this year, in 2021, after all the prep RM did during the quarantine, he took the real TOEIC exam again. And BTS RM TOEIC score this time is mind-blowing! He scored 915 out of 990.

RM Felt a bit disappointed with his TOEIC score

Although he got an almost-perfect score, BTS RM said that he didn’t do his best on the exam. In his ‘SKSK VLive’, RM stated that, “I did really poorly on the reading part. I must be really weak in the reading.”

BTS RM also revealed that when he has English texts, he uses Papago (네이버 파파고), a multilingual machine translation by Naver.

RM is Excellent at Listening

In his VLive, he admitted that his reading skill is not as good as his listening. It is proven by the English tests he has been taken for these years. BTS RM listening score is always almost perfect. Like in the recent TOEIC exam, RM got most of the listening questions right.

The average TOEIC score

With the score, RM got, you might wonder how about other people in South Korea or all around the world? The average TOEIC score in South Korea is around 675, and 500 for the whole world.
