CCTV Video Reveals BTS Suga and BIGHIT Lie About the Scooter in DUI Druk Driving Case
The DUI drunk driving case of BTS Suga has escalated into a shocking controversy!
Immediately after BTS Suga and BIGHIT released their official apology, JTBC News released the CCTV video of the DUI case on August 7. The video showed how BTS Suga had been riding a scooter that looked more like an electric mini motorcycle rather than a kickboard.
Along with the CCTV video, Yongsan Police Station also clarified that the type of scooter BTS Suga rode in the DUI drunk driving incident was the one that featured a saddle. Therefore, according to the police, it is more appropriate to refer to an “electric scooter” rather than an “electric kickboard.”
“It was a model with a seat. The term ‘electric scooter’ is more appropriate.”
Yongsan Police.
In the video report, JTBC also added that BTS Suga was driving a foldable electric scooter. It is the type that can go as fast as 30 km/h or 18.6 miles per hour. This type of vehicle and electric kickboards require an official license to drive. And if you’re caught driving them while drunk, like BTS Suga DUI case, you will be facing severe consequences.
However, the literal translation of BTS Suga and BIGHIT statement mentioned “kickboard” instead of scooter. The then public speculated that they both used the terms to downplay the severity of his actions.
After all, with “kickboards,” you may think of the ones kids usually play with or those used at events. As for “scooters,” they usually refer to those that look similar to electric motorcycles.
In South Korea, these vehicles must follow the same rules as cars when used on the street. You need to have an official license for safety reasons.
More Alleged Lies on the DUI Drunk Driving Location + SEVERE Consequences
Not only that, but BTS Suga also allegedly lied about the location of his DUI drunk driving case.
According to the Police, they had previously found BTS Suga falling near Nine One Hannam, a luxurious apartment house complex in Seoul. Hence, it might refer to Suga’s speculated house at the Hannam River Hill Villa.
Therefore, this fact totally went against BTS Suga apology statement that he actually fell in front of his home.
The location shown in the video of this DUI drunk driving case showed that it was severely dangerous for BTS Suga to ride his scooter around that area. Knowing that the area was often crowded with heavy traffic, BTS Suga driving his scooter in a drunk condition was not only dangerous for him but also for those who drove around him.
But, really, how serious is this incident? Can we really call it a DUI drunk driving case?
According to South Korean law, there are two possibilities for this case.
Firstly, if they classified his device as one with an internal engine, then they would treat the case as a drunk driving incident involving a car. This means his license will be revoked, and he could face legal charges and penalties similar to those for drunk driving in a car.
On the other hand, if they consider the device as an electric kickboard, the case will end with him paying a fine of 100,000 KRW (about 72.80 USD) and having his license revoked.
BTS Suga Facing Blown-Up DUI Drunk Driving Scooter Scandal: Because He’s a Celebrity?
With all the new revelations, it seems that BTS Suga will be facing severe consequences due to his DUI drunk driving scandal. Yet, many fans complained that the case had blown up exaggeratedly because he was a BTS member.
On the other hand, a statement from the police said otherwise.
According to Hankook Ilbo, the police officers who responded to the incident didn’t realize that Suga was a member of the globally famous group BTS. This fact weakens the argument that his celebrity status affected how the case was handled. After all, his breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level over the legal limit for license cancellation, which is 0.08%.
“When the officers arrived at the scene, they had no idea that the person riding the electric scooter was a member of BTS.”

Therefore, BTS Suga is now facing severe consequences from the general public. Some even demanded that he leave BTS for tarnishing the image of the group.
- “It looks so much like a motorbike. I can’t believe they tried to call it a kickboard, LOL. Just go solo already.”
- “Suga, it’s time to leave the group.”
- “Not only did he commit a crime, but he also lied about it. Just leave the group. I don’t want to see you anymore. We’re just lucky no accident happened.”
- “That’s definitely a motorbike.”
- “He’s riding that right on the main road, too.”
- “Isn’t that a motorbike? He’s rich, so why didn’t he just take a taxi home instead?”
- “It’s absolutely a motorbike.”
- “It was bound to come out eventually, but he still lied in his statement?”
More BIGHIT Apology & Military Statement
At the same time, fortunately, BTS Suga will not be facing punishment from the military for tarnishing its image with the DUI case. That is because this incident occurred outside of working hours.
“BTS Suga will not face any punishment for damaging the military’s image because the incident happened outside of his working hours.”
Military Manpower Administration Office.
Meanwhile, BIGHIT MUSIC released a more lengthy statement, apologizing for the wrong term they had previously used in their apology.
