In addition, the streaming platform announced on its official Instagram account, putting up the photos of the 4 main cast involved in the webtoon-adapted drama.
Along with the main cast, TVING also updated the possible release date for “Island” new webtoon drama starring Kim Nam Gil, Cha Eun Woo, and Lee Da Hee.
“Island”: Full Cast and Characters
Packed in a fantasy-thriller genre, Cha Eun Woo and Lee Da Hee new drama with Kim Nam Gil talks about a group of characters who join forces in their fights against evil to save humankind.
This new drama is adapted from a 1997 manhwa by Yoon In Wan. In 2016, the manhwa was remastered and became one of the most popular webtoons. It then turned into a successful franchise with its mobile game product, “Island M”.
Today, “Island” extends its popularity with a complete visualization in a new drama featuring top Korean actors as the cast: Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, and Cha Eun Wo. So which characters do the actors play, and will they suit the roles? Here’s the confirmed cast for “Island” new drama.
Kim Nam Gil as Van, the Man with Superpower to Protect the World from Evil
First, we have prominent actor Kim Nam Gil who will play the main character, Van.
Van is a man with extraordinary power. From the moment he was born, Van was destined to protect the world from evil. So he continuously fights demons and evil spirits in Jeju Island, even though he’s still struggling to find the answers to his question: how and when.
Lee Da Hee as Won Mi Ho, the Beautiful Chaebol Heiress
Second on the “Island” new drama cast list is actress Lee Da Hee who plays Won Mi Ho, the beautiful chaebol heiress.
Being the only daughter of the Daehan Group chairman, Won Mi Ho is a beautiful heiress with extremely arrogant and selfish attitude. These annoying behaviors caused her to make a huge mistake, making her father so furious that he banished her to Jeju Island. There, she then works as a high school ethics teacher.
Without her knowing, the island is a place where evil creatures roam free. And Won Mi Ho becomes the target of these evil demons.
Therefore, being unaware of the fate she must face, Won Mi Ho joins forces with other individuals she meets on the island. She teams up with Van in exchange for money. Then, together, they join forces to live.
Cha Eun Woo as John (Kang Chan Hyuk), the Catholic Priest
Next on the cast list is prominent idol-actor Cha Eun Woo, who will showcase his highly-improved acting skill as a Catholic priest, John, in “Island” new drama.
Despite his dark and troubled past, John highly upholds his calling to protect the people from evil spirits. So he chose his way to become a Catholic priest—the hipster one, for that matter—and exorcist who teams up with Mi Ho and Van in their battle against demons.
Sung Joon as Gungtan, the Sidekick with Special Power
Finally, we have actor Sung Joon who plays Gungtan, Van’s partner and sidekick in the demon-battling adventure.
With the ability to summon demons, Gungtan joins Van and fights demons together with him. However, this special power of his will later gives some exciting twists in the plot and storyline. And unfortunately, it causes nothing but mayhem for the group.
