Choi Woo Shik and Son Seok Koo In Talks to Lead the New Netflix Original Drama ‘Murder DIEry’
On May 25, Korean media outlets reported that Choi Woo Sik and Son Suk Goo have been offered to star in a new Netflix original drama series ‘Murder DIEry.’ The upcoming Netflix series is a crime thriller dark comedy based on a popular webtoon with the same name. The upcoming drama will also add the webtoon to the Kdrama adaptations list in 2022.
‘Murder DIEry’ is the artwork by Nomabi that initially ran from July 9, 2010, to September 2010. The author submitted the artwork to a contest before becoming the Naver webtoon series. In addition, it won a special Korea Content Award from the Korean Creative Content Agency in 2011.
Netflix Webtoon Based Drama ‘Murder DIEry’
The story follows a regular part-timer named Lee Tang and a detective named Jang Nam Gam. One day, Lee Tang argued with a drunk man; he hit him with a hammer and caused the man to die.
After the event, he feels guilty and scared. However, later he found out that the man he unintentionally killed was a serial killer. He then justified his action and said that the man “deserves to die.”
Further, after his first time killing the man who “deserves to die,” with no witnesses or evidence, he then accidentally becomes a serial killer. Although all his victims happen to be perpetrators, will Lee Tang be able to make a difference in his action as a serial killer or a hero?
Meanwhile, a detective named Jang Nam Gam suspects him. So he is chasing him and following his psychological game.
Choi Woo Shik and Son Seok Koo Are Possible to Team Up in New Netflix Original Drama ‘Murder DIEry’
In response to the report, Management SOOP, Choi Woo Shik’s agency, stated,
“[Choi Woo Shik] is positively considering [the offer] to star in ‘Murder DIEary.’”

Meanwhile, SBD Entertainment, Son Seok Koo’s agency, also stated,
“[Son Seok Koo] received an offer to star in ‘Murder DIEary’ and is positively reviewing [the offer].”

For the upcoming new series, Choi Woo Shik is offered to play the role of Lee Tang, while Son Seok Koo is offered to play the role of Jang Nam Gam.
Anticipation is increasing about the possibility of both rising actors working together in the upcoming drama. Son Seok Koo and Choi Woo Shik are the most talked about actors for their hit dramas this year.
Earlier this year, Choi Woo Shik topped the most talked about drama actor for his soft charm as Choi Woong through his latest romance youth drama, ‘Our Beloved Summer.’ He also transformed himself into Choi Min Jae in his crime movie ‘The Policeman’s Lineage.’
Meanwhile, Son Seok Koo has topped the most talked about Korean drama actor ranking three consecutive weeks for his ongoing drama “My Liberation Notes.” And his latest released movie, ‘The Outlaws 2’ or known as ‘The Roundup,’ also hit the Korean box office. The film has dominated the Korean box office for seven days straight since it was released on May 18, with more than 4 million moviegoers as of May 24, 2022.
Moreover, the upcoming thriller drama series ‘Murder DIEary’ is expected to start filming in the second half of this year and air on Netflix.
