CJ ENM HK Strikes Major Deal with Paramount
On November 30, 2023, CJ ENM Hong Kong secured a deal with Paramount Global Content Distribution. They acquired exclusive Pay TV rights for seven Korean series co-financed by TVING and Paramount+. The series will first air on tvN and tvN Movies in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore. Regional Network maintains a leading position in Pay TV viewership.
They initially unveiled the strategic collaboration between CJ ENM and Paramount Global in December 2021. These productions are an active, vital component of this worldwide partnership.Besides joint financing, these series will debut on TVING in South Korea and Paramount+ in various regions. This includes the U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Paramount Global Content Distribution will handle their distribution.
Watch the Suspense Korean Series, “A Bloody Lucky Day”
During its initial broadcast in Southeast Asia, tvN viewers can watch the eagerly awaited suspense drama “A Bloody Lucky Day.” This series features a star-studded cast, including Yoo Yeon-seok, known for “Dr. Romantic” and “Hospital Playlist 1 & 2”, Lee Sung-min from “Juvenile Justice,” and Lee Jung-eun, recognized for her roles in “Our Blues” and “Yonder.
The series is available in two parts, with Part 1 (Episodes 1 – 6) and will premiere on tvN on December 2. Part 2 will debut in Korea on December 8 and tvN on December 9.
tvN Movies will debut “Yonder” and the award-winning series “Bargain”
“Bargain,” a series adapted from a 2015 Korean short film of the same name, features a cast including Jin Sun-kyu, known for “Extreme Job” and “Kingdom,” Jun Jong-seo from “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area Part I & II,” and Chang Ryul, recognized for his roles in “Lawless Lawyer” and “My Mister.”
This series won the “Best Screenplay” award at the 6th Canneseries Festival. And it became the first Korean drama and OTT series to be honored at Canneseries. Additionally, it secured the Critics’ Choice Award at the Seriencamp Festival in Cologne in 2023. “Bargain” is an enthralling narrative about a man who checks into a motel, unaware that his organs are being auctioned off.
Meanwhile, “Yonder” stars an ensemble of veteran A-list actors. The actors include Shin Ha-kyun, famed for “Beyond Evil” and “The Thieves,” and Han Ji-min, known from “Rooftop Prince” and “Our Blues.” The series features these accomplished actors. It takes audiences on a romantic journey set in a parallel world.
