Decision to Leave Korean Movie Nominated Against Noteworthy Opponents
According to the announcement, Decision to Leave Korean drama has managed to secure a place in the 2023 Golden Globes nominations for “Best Picture: Non-English Language”.
Formerly known as “Foreign Language Films”, this category may have already sounded familiar to Korean movie enthusiasts. That is because two of Korean movie predecessors have previously managed to secure the title: Parasite in 2020 and Minari in 2021.
This year, Park Chan Wook’s masterpiecewill be up against multiple noteworthy opponents in the “Best Picture: Non-English Language” of 2023 Golden Globes nominations.
The first opponent is a German movie, All Quiet on the Western Front, which tells the story of young German soldiers who had to face the reality of the war during World War I in 1914.
Second, Decision to Leave must face an Argentinian movie, Argentina, 1985, and their story of fighting Argentina’s military dictatorship.
The third opponent is Close, a combined project between Netherlands, France, and Belgium. It tells the story of two teenage boys whose friendship is put to the test and torn apart.
And finally, the considered most-powerful opponent is RRR (Rise, Roar, Revolt) Indian movie that tells the fictional history of two legendary revolutionaries on their way to fight for their countries in 1920s. This Indian movie has an impressive rave review of over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
