Dispatch Korea Exposes All FIFTY FIFTY Members Lies and Manipulations
Dispatch Korea has once again showcased its investigative skills and power in a recent report about the FIFTY FIFTY lawsuit against ATTRAKT. In the latest report, Dispatch Korea revealed all the lies and manipulations that FIFTY FIFTY members had been trying to deliver through social media and SBS “Unanswered Question” program.
On August 23, Dispatch Korea revealed all the facts about FIFTY FIFTY and the alleged mistreatments the members had received from the agency ATTRAKT. The report especially countered all the details appearing on SBS “Unanswered Questions” which had caused massive controversy for its biased and inadequate coverage.
And apparently, all the facts that FIFTY FIFTY members and the family delivered on SBS “Unanswered Questions” turned out to be massive lies and manipulation, according to data and evidence from Dispatch Korea.
Brief Summary of Dispatch’s Report: FALSE Facts and Manipulation
Without further ado, here’s a brief summary of Dispatch Korea clarification and revision regarding all FIFTY FIFTY members false facts and manipulations on SBS “Unanswered Questions”.
1. ATTRAKT CEO Jeon Hong Joon Never Attended FIFTY FIFTY Monthly Evaluation? FALSE!
The first lie and manipulation Dispatch Korea uncovered was about ATTRAKT CEO Jeon Hong Joon never attending the monthly evaluation of FIFTY FIFTY members.
Dispatch Korea recorded approximately 23 monthly evaluations between May 2020 and June 2022. During these monthly evaluations, Dispatch Korea revealed that the ATTRAKT CEO had always been present in all end-of-month evaluations. The ones he couldn’t attend were the midterm inspections. And Dispatch managed to obtain evidence of the CEO’s presence and cross-checked them with multiple officials.
The first evidence was a photo of ATTRAKT CEO Jeon Hong Joon attending the evaluation on December 24, 2020. The CEO was sitting and closely watching FIFTY FIFTY members’ performance.
The second evidence was a statement from The Givers’ Director Baek, in a conversation that took place in April 2022. In the statement, Baek asked for the attendee’s understanding since CEO Jeon couldn’t control his hiccups.
“CEO Jeon cannot get his hiccups to stop. So please understand if he kept on doing so during the evaluation.”
Director Baek of The Givers
Still, the most appalling about this lie was when Dispatch Korea revealed that Director Baek told the lie on SBS “Unanswered Questions”. Whereas according to Dispatch Korea, Baek was the one scheduling and witnessing CEO Jeon’s presence in the monthly evaluation.
2. Did Someone REALLY Throw the Food that Parents Delivered for FIFTY FIFTY Members? NO.
The second lie from FIFTY FIFTY members and representatives that Dispatch Korea revealed was about the thrown-away food.
Dispatch Korea revealed there was a ‘food incident’ that occurred on July 6 2021. The media acquired the facts based on a statement of remorse that FIFTY FIFTY members wrote in their practice journals.
According to Dispatch Korea, the food incident did not involve any meals or side dishes, let alone the ones that the parents had sent.
Instead, it was all about snacks.
Evidence revealed that at the time, FIFTY FIFTY members were undergoing a diet program. They began the program in June 2021 but didn’t manage to lose weight. Therefore, the company conducted an emergency inspection in the members’ dorm.
Surprisingly, the staff found countless snacks hidden by the members, including chocolate waffles, moon pies, chips, candy bars, sugar straws, gummies, and chocolate bars. Hence, the staff was furious and threw away all the snacks, humiliating the members into demanding them to throw the snacks away themselves.
However, the staff in question was not from ATTRAKT. Instead, it was Director Baek from The Givers. He was the same staff who appeared on SBS “Unanswered Questions” and allegedly made false statements.
At the time, Baek scolded FIFTY FIFTY members and threw all the snacks on the floor. It turns out that one of these snacks was a packet of seaweed from a member’s parents.
“Are you all crazy?! Are you out of your mind?!
Pick them all up and throw them in the trash quickly!”
Director Baek of The Givers.
According to a witness present, Baek scolded the members but did not curse at them. The members then threw away all the snacks into a 50-liter trash bag.
3. Alleged Insufficient Meals and Malnutrition
The food (or snack) incident brought us to the question: Why were FIFTY FIFTY members so obsessed with snacks? Previously, SBS “Unanswered Questions” stated that ATTRAKT did not provide enough meals for FIFTY FIFTY members, but Dispatch Korea revealed otherwise.
At the time, Ahn Sung Il and Director Baek once recommended a diet program to ATTRAKT CEO Jeon. He believed that The Givers had once used the program and brought good results. Among 6 of FIFTY FIFTY members and trainees, 5 of them agreed. So they started the program.
The company gave the members chicken breasts for breakfast, brown rice for lunch, and chicken breast for dinner, topped with multivitamins. However, the members did not lose weight. One of them even exceeded the weight limit of 50kg.
Most importantly, the incident reportedly occurred while FIFTY FIFTY members were still trainees in June – July 2021. Therefore, Dispatch Korea believed if the incident had indeed caused physical and mental shock, the members should not have signed the contract.
4. Zero Revenue on Album Sales?
Next, SBS “Unanswered Questions” stated that FIFTY FIFTY reported album sales revenue as “0” in the report. According to Dispatch, it was all due to a staff mistake. However, a conversation revealed that both The Givers’ CEO Ahn Sung Il and ATTRAKT CEO Jeon Hong Joon were aware of this mistake.
“I’m sorry. The payments were sent out late because there was a delay with some documents from the second half of 2022. I think that’s why the members’ parents got them late. Mr. Lee from The Givers apologized to the parents and told them why. Even though I was busy, I should’ve kept an eye on this.
Hyun from ATTRAKT accounting knows about this, too, and said he’d talk to the parents. But it’s our fault, so we’ll talk to them and fix it.”
Ahn Sung Il.
The Givers’ employee Hyun made a mistake while reporting the financial document. However, CEO Jeon Hong Joon understood the situation and encouraged Ahn Sung Il.
ATTRAKT then fixed the document and revised the missing album sales and revenue figures. Ahn Sung Il and The Givers received 579 million KRW (approximately 436,000 USD) in production fees.
5. FIFTY FIFTY Did NOT Have to Pay Any Debt
Moreover, Dispatch Korea also revealed that FIFTY FIFTY members have no obligation to repay any company’s debts.
An insider in the music industry told Dispatch Korea that advance payment is the agency’s debt. Therefore, FIFTY FIFTY members did not have to worry about paying them.
“This is simple math.
If a label received a 5.00 billion KRW (about 3.73 million USD) advanced payment and generated the same amount in music revenue, do the singers not get paid?
The contract said to divide the profit by 7:3. Therefore, the singers made 150 million KRW (about $112,000 USD).
The advance payment is the label’s debt and not the artist’s. Therefore, it isn’t something to be worried about.”
an entertainment insider.
6. FIFTY FIFTY Received Almost 20 Commercial Offers
Finally, Dispatch Korea also revealed that FIFTY FIFTY members had received approximately 20 commercial offers. The offers varied from coffee, banks, to even electronics companies.
Indeed, the commercials could have brought FIFTY FIFTY members around 1.2 billion KRW (around 895,000 USD) in revenue. However, ATTRAKT decided to refuse all the offers due to the members’ health.
And since FIFTY FIFTY members filed a lawsuit against ATTRAKT, the legal dispute caused all these offers to postpone.
So, what do you think about all the lies and manipulations that Dispatch Korea revealed about FIFTY FIFTY members? Due to all these facts and evidence from Dispatch Korea, SBS “Unaswered Questions” has received massive criticism, losing its credibility and reputation as one of the most reliable investigative TV programs in South Korea.
