The most prominent Korean idol actress, IU (Lee Ji Eun), will soon be returning to the small screen in a new webtoon adaptation drama, “Money Game” with Ryu Joon Yeol. Here are some CRUCIAL facts you do NOT want to miss.
5 CRUCIAL Facts About IU & Ryu Joon Yeol New Webtoon Adaptation Drama, “Money Game”
1. “Money Game”: Adaptation from TWO Webtoon Titles by Author Bae Jin Soo
First and foremost, you need to know that IU and Ryu Joon Yeol new drama, “Money Game”, is a webtoon adaptation from TWO webtoon titles from the same author, Bae Jin Soo. The first is “Money Game”. Secondly is its sequel, “Pie Game”.
Money Game
The first original webtoon, Money Game, tells the story of 100 participants joining a reality show, where they share around 38 million USD in a pot of money. Each of the participants will have to spend as little as possible to go home with as much money as possible.
However, the problem lies in the fact that “Money Game” reality TV only allows the participant to join the game with nothing but a set of clothes and a guidebook. Then, everything available in the game has a price of 1000 times higher than the original. If you buy a 2 USD cup of coffee, then it becomes 2,000 USD in the show. If that’s the case, how will the participants manage to save the money?
Pie Game
Secondly, the IU and Ryu Joon Yeol webtoon adaptation drama will combine the story of “Money Game” with its sequel, “Pie Game”. Unlike the first game, the amount of money you can possibly get will increase even higher the longer you stay in the Pie Game.
Furthermore, all the participants will be able to buy anything except for food and beverages. And the game only ends when the timer reaches 0 or when all the participants are dead. So, does it mean they can just kill each other?
You may think that “Money Game” and “Pie Game” are similar to “Squid Game”. However, it’s not. Why? Because combining “Money Game” and “Pie Game” will form an even nastier story than “Squid Game”.
2. Star-Studded Cast Members, Including IU & Ryu Joon Yeol
Secondly, “Money Game” new webtoon adaptation drama will feature star-studded cast members, including IU (Lee Ji Eun) and Ryu Joon Yeol. 5 prominent Korean actors have confirmed their appearance in the drama, and who knows? Maybe the production team has more names to follow.

Lastly, veteran actor Bae Sung Woo has always made sure that everyone will remember his existence in each appearance he makes in movies and dramas. We truly hope he will also make a huge presence this time.
3. “Money Game” Webtoon Adaptation New Drama Combined Story Plot
Furthermore, since “Money Game” new drama combines two webtoon titles, it will not take 100 participants in the game. Instead, “Money Game” webtoon adaptation new drama will tell the story of 8 characters who urgently need money to join the game and stay in an empty studio. If these participants can remain there for 100 days, they will be able to divide the 44.8 billion won winning prize equally.
In order to do so, they will still need to spend for at least their necessities. But then, the price for these necessities, including food, water, electricity, is 1000 times higher than the original. And these costs will all be deducted from the prize. That is why these participants will have to cooperate and betray each other at the same time. How so? Because the game will only end when the time runs out, or when someone dies.
4. Scripted and Directed by Han Jae Rim
Now, you don’t need to worry too much about how these two fantastic webtoons will turn into reality. That is because director Han Jae Rim will be in charge of scripting and leading this project.
Director Han Jae Rim has wide-ranging experience in both scriptwriting and directing. Therefore, we expect some dramatic scenes and tensions with the right moments in the drama, just like in his previous works, “Emergency Declaration” and “The King” movies.
5. Extensive Plot in 8 Episodes Only
