Korean singer Eric Nam faced backlash for liking a post on the Israel-Palestine conflict, leading to the cancellation of his “House On A Hill” Malaysia concert. The statement from his manager and Eric Nam himself only heightened the criticism, intensifying the controversy around Eric Nam’s actions. What really happened?
Eric Nam Encounters Criticism for His Take on the Israel-Palestine Conflict
In early October, well-known American-Korean singer Eric Nam sparked controversy by liking an Instagram post discussing the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The post he liked reads, “It is absolutely reasonable and logical to be opposed to the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY calling for the protection of Jews in Israel and around the world…”
The viral post suggested one could criticize Israel’s treatment of Palestinians while supporting global Jewish safety. Despite its neutral intent, critics argued it overlooked the conflict’s complexity, disappointing many fans.
didn’t expect it from eric nam but imagine if idols were allowed to express their political views, i’d probably be stanning 4 people in the industry imo pic.twitter.com/VuyJcVqtRB

“House On A Hill” Malaysia Concert Cancellation
This issue arose just as Eric Nam announced the Asian leg of his “House On A Hill” world tour. The announcement, particularly among Malaysian fans, received a divided response. Some even suggested he skip Malaysia altogether.
eric nam removed malaysia from his tour list without saying anything bc a lot of people from there told him not to come bc they don’t want anyone who is supporting israel in their country- no joke he showed that he doesn’t gives a fck about palestine… another genocide supporter

Following this, the Kuala Lumpur concert, initially scheduled for February 20, was quietly removed from Eric Nam’s “House On A Hill” tour list and his website. The original announcement tweet was also deleted. Though Eric hasn’t formally addressed the decision or backlash, removing the Kuala Lumpur date acknowledges the controversy.
Statement from Eric Nam’s Manager
Facing mounting criticism, Eric Nam’s brother and manager, Eddie Nam, issued a short statement. Shared in the Nam Nation Discord on October 19, Eddie mentioned that Eric wouldn’t comment on the issue, suggesting that internet explanations are often futile.
Initially seen only on Discord, the statement was later posted online by a user. The reaction was mostly negative, with many urging Eric to address the controversy personally.
Some comments on X read:
- “this is a reminder to NOT support ANY content from dive studios. eric nam & eddie nam are BOTH zionists. they’ve seen all people asking for eric to speak up but they choose to stay silent with the excuse that people know “eric’s heart”. all i know is that eric nam is a zionist.”
- “Be fucking serious Eddie. “there is little point in clarifying anything on the Internet these days” clarifying wouldn’t be an issue if he wasn’t a zionist.”
- “if it hurt to see the accusations you would clarify your position but clearly you don’t care at all”
- “eric nam could have saved himself with apologizing after liking that post and educating himself about what’s right after being called out but he didn’t he just removed tour dates after being called out just says A LOT”
Eric Nam’s Official Statement
On October 30, Eric Nam took his official X account to share his statement, explaining his purpose of liking the post.
