EXO Baekhyun Self-Hosted Birthday Cafe Event
Beginning on May 4 KST, EXO Baekhyun’s agency INB100 opened a birthday cafe event in several locations, including the main location in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
As many of you know, birthday cafe events originated as gatherings organized by fans to celebrate their favorite idol’s birthday alongside other fans. These events involve exchanging homemade goods and promoting their beloved artists to the broader public.
Therefore, Baekhyun’s birthday cafe event attracted Kpop fans in general and an immense crowd.
Line-up starts in the early morning. Customers will receive entry numbers for the event, which begins at 10.30 AM KST. Customers who are lucky enough to attend the event could get never-before-seen photocards. However, the event only accepted around 1,000 customers per day.
Complaints Against Baekhyun’s Birthday Cafe Event
According to witnesses, the line was so long throughout the day. Therefore, the nearby businesses complained of their operations being disrupted.

Netizens show mixed reactions to Baekhyun holding a birthday cafe event “for profit”
Some netizens point out how pricey the menu at the birthday cafe:
- “The drinks are too expensive.”
- “It looks like he’s pretending to give us a treat, but he really just wants to make money.”
- “Now he’s running the birthday cafe event himself? He’s definitely trying to get every last dime from us.”
- “If he really wanted to celebrate with us, shouldn’t the food and drinks be free?”
- “He’s taking over something we do for fun just to make more money.”
- “It’s okay to think about business, but he shouldn’t call it a ‘gift for fans’ if we have to pay.”
- “He’s probably going to use the money from this to make more stuff like character dolls and accessories, lol.”
- “Charging for birthday cafes really shows he’s all about business, treating us like just customers.”
But some others argued:
- “Okay, but usually the cafes hosting the birthday events get most of the sales profits. So how does Baekhyun make money from this?”
- “How much profit can Baekhyun really make from a birthday cafe? He’d make millions from albums and concerts, lol.”
- “If you think the drinks and desserts are too expensive, just make your own coffee at home. Why worry about how others spend their money?”
- “Those prices are the same as any fancy cafe.”
- “Be jealous if you want, but Baekhyun’s fans are having a great time.”
- “People who aren’t even fans are getting upset for no reason.”
- “Charging a bit more for drinks won’t make a big profit. But he made lots of special photocards, so of course his fans will come.”
