On May 4, the agency announced that EXO Kai would hold a free fan meeting before his military enlistment. Kai’s fan meeting is scheduled for May 9 at 7 PM KST at the Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul.

“As the venue has limited space, the event will be free with pre-registration being accepted from members of [EXO’s] official paid fan club [EXO-L-ACE 3, ACE 2]. For those who are unable to be with us, it will be broadcast live on EXO’s YouTube channel.”

Previously, SM Entertainment released a sudden announcement that devastated EXO-L all around the world. The agency stated that EXO Kai had received his summon letter and would enter the military recruit training on May 11 due to the change in the regulation of the Military Manpower Administration.
The sudden announcement devastated EXO-L because EXO members have mentioned their comeback as a full group since last year. Moreover, during the EXO’CLOCK fan meeting last month, fans were treated to one new song, which was expected to be one of the tracks for EXO’s upcoming comeback as a full group. However, SM Entertainment also mentioned that although Kai was preparing for the EXO comeback scheduled for this year, mandatory military service couldn’t be avoided.
Not only EXO-L are saddened, but Kai also regrets the sudden decision.
“There’s so much that I had prepared. What a pity. That’s what’s upsetting. There’s nothing that I could do about this. I’m sad that I can’t show you what I prepared but I can just show it after I return.”

SM Entertainment Is Making Fake Reason for EXO Kai Military Enlistment?
As mentioned by SM Entertainment, the sudden military enlistment of EXO Kai was due to the change in the regulation of the Military Manpower Administration. However, the Military Manpower Administration refuted and explained the case.
“Typically, those who receive a military service summon letter can request to postpone the date of their enlistment a total of 5 times within a period of 2-years after receiving the summon. There are many reasons which are acceptable for a postponement request, including ‘miscellaneous’, but this reason can only be use twice as a part of the 5 total requests permitted.”

Therefore, it was concluded that Kai had already used up all five postponement requests and had no choice but to enlist on the date indicated by his summon letter. Even if the regulations changed, it happened earlier in January.

Nevertheless, no one knows what SM Entertainment may refer to when it stated, “due to recent changes in military service laws.”
