The ongoing lawsuit FIFTY FIFTY members and their agency ATTRAKT has taken a more “peaceful” turn and update. They are demanding that ATTRAKT disband FIFTY FIFTY and replace the members. So, what happened in the latest update of the FIFTY FIFTY vs ATTRAKT lawsuit? Continue reading for a more comprehensive report and discussion.
FIFTY FIFTY Members vs ATTRAKT Lawsuit Update: The Court Suggests a Mediation
The Kpop rookie group, FIFTY FIFTY, has swiftly transitioned from being a promising dark horse in the music industry into to potential victims of scammers who have betrayed their own company.
Fortunately, the ongoing lawsuit between FIFTY FIFTY members and their company ATTRAKT has started to incline towards a more “peaceful” progress and update. However, does this suggest it could satisfy the public’s urge and demand for FIFTY FIFTY to disband?
On August 1, the Korean media outlet Yonhap News reported that the ongoing contract lawsuit between FIFTY FIFTY members and agency ATTRAKT had been transferred to mediation.
Previously, FIFTY FIFTY had requested a provisional injunction to suspend the exclusive contract against their company ATTRAKT. Regarding this case, Chief Judge Park Bum Seok of the 50th Civil Settlement Division in the Seoul Central District Court decided to refer FIFTY’s request to mediation for a more diplomatic progress.
A More “Peaceful” Resolution
Mediation referral means a legal procedure that aims for a more amicable resolution. Through the mediation process, the court wishes FIFTY FIFTY members to reach a mutual understanding and agreement regarding their lawsuit against the company, ATTRAKT.
If both sides cannot reach an agreement during the mediation process, the court would suggest compulsory mediation. And it is done by presenting both parties with specific conditions. Should FIFTY FIFTY and ATTRAKT accept the conditions, then the lawsuit will finalize. But if not, then the case will go back to trial.
Furthermore, the court made such suggestions after taking both sides’ arguments into consideration.
The court had previously conducted an interrogation on July 5. In the interrogation process, FIFTY FIFTY members and their legal representative insisted that ATTRAKT had violated its duty to provide a complete settlement report. FIFTY FIFTY’s attorney also argued that ATTRAKT had neglected the members’ physical and mental health. And most importantly, ATTRAKT cannot provide FIFTY FIFTY with sufficient human and material resources for their entertainment activities.
“The agency had violated its duty to faithfully provide settlement data. They have also failed to manage the artists’ physical and mental health and could not hold or support human and material resources for entertainment activities.”

Meanwhile, ATTRAKT argued that the difference in the report was because of a time difference and not intentionally omitted. The company corrected and submitted the report within the deadline, so the accusation about the settlement report was not accurate.
Besides, more shocking facts revealed that CEO Ahn Sung Il of The Givers—the company behind FIFTY FIFTY’s dispute—has allegedly manipulated his professional background. This leads to speculations that Ahn Sung Il had scammed FIFTY FIFTY into betraying ATTRAKT for his personal benefit.
Korean Netizens Suggest ATTRAKT to Disband FIFTY FIFTY and Pick New Members
Now, with this more amiable resolve, does it mean FIFTY FIFTY members will be able to return safely to the music industry after their lawsuit against ATTRAKT finalizes? Not really.
Following the court’s decision report, Korean netizens took FIFTY FIFTY vs ATTRAKT lawsuit update into the online community. In the forums, many netizens have lost their interest and empathy with the members. Instead of supporting FIFTY FIFTY so they came into agreement with ATTRAKT, Korean netizens suggested ATTRAKT to disband the group and replace the members.
Netizens suggested the company disband FIFTY FIFTY because of a lack of trust. They also believe that it is now too late for mediation after all the hostile approaches and attempts that FIFTY FIFTY had made against the company. Therefore, agreeing to mediation does not guarantee that the same case will not happen again in the future.
Finally, what is your opinion regarding this latest update on FIFTY FIFTY vs ATTRAKT lawsuit? Do you also believe FIFTY FIFTY should disband, or should they resolve the issue in the mediation process?

Whoever suggested replace the members must be so naive. You just don’t replace the members and expect that they will have the same level of talented singers as the current. Artists are not like tires that when it gets flat you can just replace with a spare tire.
