After days of silence and nothing, Kim Soo Hyun is finally fighting back, now equipped with new analysis and a possible backup support from Lee Jin Ho against the bereaved family of Kim Sae Ron.
On April 9 KST, the Truebaum Research Center released the results of a special analysis called an “Author Identification Assessment.” This is a new method in South Korea, focusing on examining writing patterns. By using this new analysis, you will be able to examine writing patterns to see if messages from different times were likely written by the same person. It’s basically similar to comparing handwriting styles through words.
The analysis looked at alleged text messages between actor Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress Kim Sae Ron from 2016. Then, they compared them to confirmed messages Kim Soo Hyun sent to his acquaintances in 2025.
Interestingly, it was Kim Soo Hyun’s own team who requested the assessment. They personally provided the data for review.
Along with the new analysis from Truebaum, YouTuber Lee Jin Ho posted a new video report on his channel. This time, Lee Jin Ho seemed to come to Kim Soo Hyun’s defense, promising to reveal the truth behind his 6-year dating relationship with Kim Sae Ron.
According to Lee Jin Ho, both Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron had been dating different persons during the timeline when she was supposed to be dating Kim Soo Hyun.
New Analysis on Alleged 2016 KakaoTalk Message Between Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron
Per Kim Soo Hyun’s side request, Truebaum Research Center analyzed the alleged 2016 KakaoTalk messages between Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron, which previously went public on HOVERLAB (Garosero)’s YouTube channel. The agency then compared them to messages Kim Soo Hyun personally provided from his 2025 private conversations with close acquaintances.
Based on the analysis result of the KakaoTalk message between Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron, Truebaum revealed several findings:
The study found no significant differences between Kim Soo Hyun’s 2025 messages (confirmed authentic) and 2018 messages attributed to him. This suggests those texts were indeed written by him—showing a 92% probability of authorship.
However, the 2016 messages, which have been central to the underage dating allegations, showed statistically significant differences. The similarity that these were written by Kim Soo Hyun dropped to just 8%, with 95% confidence.
In other words, the analysis strongly suggests the 2016 messages were either manipulated or fabricated.
Since it was Kim Soo Hyun’s side who requested and hired Truebaum, this analysis may not seem too reliable in the eyes of the public. However, it shows just how determined Kim Soo Hyun to fight back and claim his innocence, especially now that his name has become the very face and symbol of Korean statutory rape law reform.

Almost as if they share the same goal—probably due to the previous lawsuit from Kim Sae Ron family against him—YouTuber Lee Jin Ho published a new exposé on his channel on the same day of the release of this new analysis.
This time, Lee Jin Ho framed Kim Soo Hyun not as an alleged perpetrator—but as a fellow victim of misinformation.
In his report titled “Late Kim Sae Ron’s Ex-Boyfriend’s Truth. The Real Story of Kim Soo Hyun’s 6-Year Relationship!”, Lee claimed that the entire timeline of the alleged relationship was factually flawed.
And so, Lee Jin Ho revealed some points based on his investigation on Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron dating relationship.
Kim Sae Ron Dated Multiple Individuals, Not Just Kim Soo Hyun
Firstly, Lee Jin Ho believed that Kim Sae Ron had been allegedly involved with several partners. These include athletes, idols, businessmen, singer, and the ex-husband prior to her tragic death. Lee Jin Ho also stated that Kim Sae Ron had always been famous for her outgoing nature.
Lee Jin Ho also stated that Kim Sae Ron was dating someone else in 2016. His investigation allegedly focused on 2 different persons other than Kim Soo Hyun. However, while Kim Sae Ron allegedly referred to these individuals as boyfriends to her friends, Lee Jin Ho claims it was later confirmed that she was not actually in a relationship with either of them.
Kim Soo Hyun Dated Someone Else During Military Service
Meanwhile, Lee Jin Ho also revealed that Kim Soo Hyun was in a long-term relationship with another woman from around 2016 to 2019. This period overlaps with Kim Soo Hyun’s military service as previously discussed in the rumors. He explained that this wasn’t a secret because several close acquaintances were aware of the relationship.
He also pointed out that during the now-viral 2018 “Dak-bokkeum-tang” video incident, Kim Soo Hyun was already seeing this person. At that time, Lee Jin Ho claimed, Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun were simply close friends. They were occasionally spending time together with their families.

He then presented what he said were photos and video clips of Kim Sae Ron and her boyfriend in affectionate moments, including public displays of intimacy near Seoul’s Nonhyeon and Eonju subway stations.

Moreover, Lee Jin Ho also claimed that Kim Sae Ron had possibly lied when she claimed to have dated Kim Soo Hyun from November 19, 2015, to July 7, 2021.
That same message had been previously circulated by the HOVERLAB. At the time, HOVERLAB released the chat in connection to a March 2024 photo she posted—one showing her cheek-to-cheek with Kim Soo Hyun, which many interpreted as proof of their closeness.
However, Lee Jin Ho contested that timeline. He stated the photo was not recent. He then claimed that digital forensics showed the year 2019, not during the time Kim Sae Ron had described. If true, this would then challenge the credibility of her original claim. And it would also raise more questions about how much of her version holds up under scrutiny.
Lee Jin Ho Supported Kim Soo Hyun at The Right Time
The video stirred strong reactions online. Some viewers began demanding a deeper investigation into the photo’s authenticity. Some even called for authorities to conduct official forensic analysis.
On the other hand, it also triggered suspicions from others. That’s because Lee Jin Ho seems to be coming to Kim Soo Hyun’s defense at the perfect moment. Just as the public starts to feel tired of all the complicated issue, this dual-front response then repositions Kim Soo Hyun from the accused to a potential victim of fabrication.
Previously, Lee Jin Ho reported Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron dating relationship with more neutral stance. He used to focus more on Kim Sae Ron’s private matters. Yet, today, Lee Jin Ho appears to lean toward defending Kim Soo Hyun.
And everything is just in time after the forensic analysis undercut Hoverlab’s claims. His shift in tone comes at a crucial moment, possibly swaying public perception in Kim Soo Hyun’s favor.
The Desperate Defense from Kim Sae Ron Bereaved Family
But just as Kim Soo Hyun began shifting the narrative in his favor, the bereaved family of Kim Sae Ron pushed back with their own statement.
According to a statement reported by Sports Kyunghyang on April 10 KST, Kim Sae Ron’s family strongly denied the claims presented by Lee Jin Ho. And they especially denied those concerning the late actress’s alleged relationship timeline.
The family then addressed the most sensitive issue: May 27, 2019 evening, a key date mentioned in several rumors. The circulated rumors suggested that Kim Sae Ron had been involved in a secret romantic relationship at the time. The family insisted this was false.
They stated that at around 1 AM that morning, Kim Sae Ron was with a female friend, not a man. She had reportedly contacted her mother that night. Kim Sae Ron had confirmed her whereabouts, saying she was spending time at her friend’s house.
To support their claim, the family pointed to saved data on Kim Sae Ron’s old mobile phone, which she had used before her passing. The phone reportedly still contains time-stamped app recordings and footage, all created around that same hour.
In addition to the digital records, the family emphasized that during this period, Kim Sae Ron was actively filming the web drama “Love Playlist Season 4,” which aired between June and July 2019. According to them, the demanding shooting schedule made it highly unlikely for her to be meeting someone romantically in public or engaging in the relationship scenarios now being suggested online.
The Truth Remains Concealed
With this rebuttal, Kim Sae Ron’s family attempts to reclaim the narrative. The family seems to be desperate. And not just to protect her memory but also to push back against what they perceive as a one-sided shift in public sympathy.
