BIGBANG G-Dragon (GD) once again finds himself at the center of criticism regarding the recent scandal, although no evidence proves that he’s using drugs. So, what really happened behind the issue, and why must GD endure numerous complaints from the public? Let’s venture deeper into the case.
BIGBANG G-Dragon (GD) Faces More Criticism Despite No Evidence of Using Drugs
The prominent rapper-songwriter of BIGBANG, G-Dragon (GD), is currently under various criticism. After making voluntary attendance during the first police investigation and showing no evidence of using drugs, BIGBANG G-Dragon (GD) continuously received mixed reactions following the recent scandal.
On November 8, Korean media outlets posted articles discussing GD’s attending his first police investigation. But instead of focusing on the update on the case, the topics brought the public’s attention to GD’s state during his voluntary attendance.
In the reports, the media outlets discussed an interview between YTN and Lawyer Kim Hee Joon, who previously worked as a drug investigation expert prosecutor. The discussion then continued regarding how BIGBANG G-Dragon (GD) appeared to be constantly moving his body, which once triggered suspicions that he was using drugs.
According to Lawyer Kim Hee Joon, the unique body gestures of BIGBANG G-Dragon (GD) were not evidence that he was using drugs. That is because we cannot determine whether someone is using drugs simply by their behaviors.
“We cannot conclusively identify drug use by observing someone’s behavior or gestures, as these may simply be their natural mannerisms. The way a person speaks or moves does not reliably indicate whether they have consumed drugs since those who use drugs do not universally exhibit abnormal body language.
Moreover, drugs vary widely; some stimulate while others sedate, leading to different behaviors. Therefore, labeling certain behaviors or movements as definitively abnormal due to drug use is not accurate.”

Yet, despite its no relation to the use of drugs, these unique gestures and attitudes resulted in more criticism against BIGBANG G-Dragon (GD) and his scandal.
Criticism Arises Due to GD ‘Arrogant’ Attitude During First Police Investigation into the Scandal
Unlike some other celebrities, BIGBANG G-Dragon (GD) showed a nonchalant attitude and smiled confidently while attending his first police investigation. While some netizens supported him and believed he was falsely accused, others criticized him for being arrogant.
- He comes off as too sure of himself and not honest.
- He lies openly, without any shame.
- I’d be shocked if he turned out to be not guilty.
- Whether or not he uses drugs, his actions are strange.
- Isn’t it clear to others that he’s changed? He used to be happier.
- Even if you did nothing wrong, you should be sorry when you’re in a big mess. Talking big on TV like he did, it’s like he’s not scared of anything.
- I’m happy he’s not guilty, but acting in ways that upset or cause trouble doesn’t seem smart. You don’t have to act too humble, but it’s important to act right for the situation. Stand tall and look confident. If you speak modestly, won’t people like you more and feel sorry for you if it turns out you were innocent all along?
Eventually, even when no evidence proved he was using drugs, netizens still expected some kind of humility from BIGBANG G-Dragon (GD) in this scandal. They believed that as a public figure who set an example to the entire nation, that was the least he could do.
Still, what are your thoughts on this issue? Do you think GD’s attitude was problematic during the first police investigation? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
