(G)I-DLE Minnie starts her career as a Kpop idol, and now starting her acting debut in the series ‘So Not Worth It.’ In this month’s #Legend issue, Minnie shares some fun life stories and her journey in becoming the successful idol and actress she is now.
Let’s get to know closer to Minnie with #Legend and her acting debut in ‘So Not Worth It’
Who is Minnie?
Minnie was born in Bangkok, on October 23, 1997, with the birth name Nicha Yontararak. She is known for being a member of the girl group (G)I-DLE. However, Minnie is now more popular because of her role in the Korean TV series ‘So Not Worth It.’
Minnie’s first acting experience
Previously, (G)I-DLE Minnie opened up about her acting debut in ‘So Not Worth It’ with a Korean outlet, saying,
“I am filming the Netflix sitcom ‘So Not Worth It’ (also known as ‘I wish the World would End Tomorrow’). Since I am interested in Korean culture, including Kpop, I took on the character of Minnie, a Thai international student attending a university in Seoul. In the sitcom, Minnie has many characteristics that actually resemble me. I was also an E.L.F (Super Junior’s fandom name) who was passionate about Super Junior when I was in middle school. As an E.L.F who was on the scene when Super Junior held a concert in Thailand, I know the hearts of overseas fans very well. If COVID-19 ends, I want to meet overseas fans as soon as possible while doing a world tour.”

“It was actually my first time acting and I was super excited but also very nervous. I tend to watch a lot of behind-the-scenes clips of movies that I like, to see how they work on it and how the actresses and actors act. So I thought it would be nice to have the chance to act myself, so I was really excited to have this opportunity and learn a lot of new things.”
(G)I-DLE Minnie acting debut challenges
When #Legend asked about her first acting experience in ‘So Not Worth It’, Minnie mentioned some challenges that she faced.
“It’s kind of hard to be half myself and half someone else. So I needed to build up the confidence to be that other character.”
Minnie needs to learn how to curse
With her gentle character, cursing is one of the things that is not easy for her to do. Finally, however, her coach asked her to curse herself in the mirror.
“My coach would ask me to look in the mirror at myself and curse very loudly because he needed me to be confident when I did so. So I’d look at him and say, ‘Can I actually say that loudly?’ and he would reply, ‘Just do it!’ “At first, I was uncomfortable cursing all the time, but after I worked on it and did it a lot for the show, I kind of got used to it.”
The difference between being a Kpop idol and an actress
According to Minnie, the experience of being a Kpop idol and an actress is in stark contrast.
“When I’m singing or performing on stage, I need to be confident and I need to find the camera and look into it. But when I’m on set, acting for a series, I can’t look at the camera. Instead I need to be extra aware of my gestures. For example, if I’m acting a scene where I’m sitting down and taking a bite of tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), when I have to do another take from another angle, I need to do it exactly the same – which is very hard – like, how can they remember everything, every movement? But yeah, I learnt to do that.”
