Girls’ Generation YoonA to Headline a New Historical Drama “The Tyrant’s Chef”
According to OSEN’s exclusive report on September 24, Girls’ Generation YoonA will reportedly star in a new webtoon-based drama, “The Tyrant’s Chef.” The captivating drama will have a time-slip theme from the modern-day to the Joseon era.

The upcoming drama “The Tyrant’s Chef” is an exciting comedy, fantasy, and historical drama based on a popular Webtoon series of the same name.
“The Tyrant’s Chef” follows the story of Yeon Ji Young, a successful Korean chef who masters French cuisine and lives in France. After hearing the news that her father is in critical condition, she rushes to return to Korea but ends up slipping into the Joseon era.
In Joseon, Ji Young meets the 10th King of Joseon, Yeonsan, who has an excellent taste for food and is notoriously known as the worst tyrant in Joseon. After gaining the King’s favor, she works in the royal kitchen.
The upcoming drama “The Tyrant’s Chef” will be the next project of the brilliant director Jang Tae Yoo of “Knight Flower.” Starring Lee Honey of “The Fiery Priest 2” and Lee Jong Won of “Brewing Love,” the historical drama “Knight Flower” series gained a high rating of 18.4%. Director Jang Tae Yoo also directed numerous popular Kdramas, including “My Love from the Star,” “Hyena,”and “Lovers of the Red Sky.”
Girls’ Generation YoonA’s Comeback to Historical Drama Genre
Im YoonA made her acting debut in 2007 as a supporting actress in the drama “9 End 2 Outs.” Since then, she has starred in various dramas and movies. Some of her popular dramas and movies are “The K2,” “Big Mouth,” “King the Land,” “Confidential Assignment 1 & 2,” “Miracle: Letters to the President,” and “A Year-End Medley.”
“The Tyrant’s Chef” will mark YoonA’s comeback project following her drama “King the Land” in 2023. It also marks her return to the historical drama genre since the enchanting historical drama “The King in Love” with Im Si Wan and Hong Jong Hyun in 2017.
