On July 17, Netflix’s official social media account announced the casting of Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin for a marriage-story project called “The Trunk”. Along with the official announcement, Korean media outlet Ten Asia reported that Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin would be married for a certain period in the new drama.
This project marks the first time labelmates Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin have worked together on the same drama. Under the same agency, Management SOOP, both actors have paved their own ways to the top list of South Korea’s most prominent actors.
While Gong Yoo is now busy with his upcoming appearance in “Squid Game” Season 2 and “Wonderland” movie, this is a comeback for Seo Hyun Jin after her previous project with Hwang In Yeop in “Why Her?”.

Further in the report, Ten Asia revealed “The Trunk” new drama will tell the story of an unusual marriage service full of secrets. The main storyline of this new drama is based on a famous novel of the same title by Author Kim Rye Ryung.
Starting the story with a trunk washing up on a lake, “The Trunk” new drama will unveil all the strange twists about the premium matchmaking service. The service unites specially-customized spouses with different unusual relationship stories and holds various unexpected secrets. Soon, all the mysteries will surface as the story develops, while having two people get caught in the process.
Actress Seo Hyun Jin will be a deputy head of the NM matchmaking service company named Noh In Ji. After four marriages, Noh In Ji chose to stay single even though she works in the marriage field. But then, an unexpected twist resulted in her meeting a fifth marriage partner, Han Jeong Won.
Han Jeong Won is a character whom actor Gong Yoo will play. He is a music producer with severe anxiety and spends most of his daily life full of loneliness due to his painful past marriage.
What is ironic about Jeong Won’s story is that he then meets his second wife, Noh In Ji, in a special fixed-term marriage service arranged by his ex-wife, Seo Yeon. Little did everyone know that Jeong Won cannot forget about Seo Yeon, and still misses her so much.
In the end, while working on their own secrets and pain, Jeong Won and In Ji start getting to know and find their ways to each other.
