It’s finally confirmed! SM Entertainment has apparently released the names and details of its new K-pop girl group, Hearts2Hearts members. Since Hearts2Hearts is the very first K-pop girl group after SM Entertainment parted ways with its founding father, Lee Soo Man, what kind of concept will they bring to the table? Will Hearts2Hearts be able to keep up with the success of all their predecessors, who were shaped under Lee Soo Man’s influence after all?
SM Entertainment Confirmed Members of New K-pop Girl Group, Hearts2Hearts
SM Entertainment finally makes its official entry into the 5th-generation K-pop market with Hearts2Hearts, a new girl group they produce 5 years after its 4th-generation superstar, aespa. As the anticipation for the group’s debut is massively increasing, new reports emerged with confirmation of all the official members of Hearts2Hearts.
On January 29, Korean media outlet Star News released a comprehensive feature discussing the debut of Hearts2Hearts. In the report, Star News revealed that the official members of SM new Kpop girl group, Hearts2Hearts, have been officially confirmed.
According to Star News, SM Entertainment new K-pop group Hearts2Hearts has confirmed to have 8 total members. And each member will brilliantly contribute with their impressive talents, forming SM Entertainment first global K-pop group for the 3.0 system.
Set to debut on February 24, Hearts2Hearts will introduce SM’s first-ever Southeast Asian member, Carmen from Indonesia. Additionally, Dahyun, who holds dual nationality in South Korea and Canada, is categorized as part of the group’s “global” lineup. Debuting with Carmen and Dahyun, the domestic lineup includes Jiwoo, Haram, Jooeun, Yuna, Leean, and Nayeon.
With these confirmed members, Hearts2Hearts will be an SM Entertainment 5th-generation K-pop girl with 8 members born between 2006 and 2010 and an average age of 17.
SM Entertainment First K-pop Group After Lee Soo Man’s Departure
Following the members confirmation, it is of the utmost importance to note that Hearts2Hearts will be a new K-pop girl group of SM Entertainment after the departure of its founding father, Lee Soo Man. This major shift is one of the reasons why the hype has been massively revolving around the group.
Previously, under Lee Soo Man’s direction, SM Entertainment consistently debuted superstar girl groups for each generation:
- 1st Generation: S.E.S. (Bada, Shoo, Eugene)
- 2nd Generation: Girls’ Generation (Taeyeon, Yoona, Seohyun, Yuri, Tiffany, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Jessica)
- 3rd Generation: f(x) (Luna, Sulli, Krystal, Amber, Victoria)
- 4th Generation: Red Velvet (Irene, Joy, Seulgi, Wendy, Yeri)
- 5th Generation: aespa (Karina, Winter, Giselle, Ningning)
Each of these groups played a defining role in K-pop history. S.E.S has always been K-pop’s very first successful and legendary girl group, and Girls’ Generation, with its massive 9-member lineup at the time, has always been regarded as the perfect cultural icon of K-pop with impressive consecutive hits.
Meanwhile, f(x) was famous as the most experimental and unconventional K-pop girl group, while Red Velvet managed to seamlessly blend Girls’ Generation appeal and f(x) experimental music.
Then came aespa, brilliantly representing SM’s 2.0 era with the introduction of a “KWANGYA” universe. With their unique concept and incredible talents, aespa dominated the 4th generation girl group market, even after changing their concept once Lee Soo Man left the company.
Can Hearts2Hearts Succeed Without Lee Soo Man’s Influence?
While aespa maintained their success after Lee Soo Man’s departure, it’s still undisputable that all these girl groups debuted with bits of touches of SM founding father.
So now that Lee Soo Man has left the company, fans are eagerly waiting to see what kind of concept Hearts2Hearts will bring to the table. Will they be able to match the legacy of their predecessors? Or will they struggle without Lee Soo Man’s signature touch?
And ultimately, will they succeed like RIIZE, SM’s recent boy group debut, or flop instead? Only time will tell.
So, while we’re waiting for the debut of SM Entertainment new girl group, Hearts2Hearts on February 24, give us your thoughts about the members lineup. Do you think they complement each other well? Will they form a strong synergy as a group? Let us know in the comments.
