It’s finally here! For the first time ever after their massive merger and acquisition in 2021, HYBE finally launched their first official new girl group, LE SSERAFIM, with all its incredible fun facts.

On May 2 at 6 PM KST, HYBE new girl group, LE SSERAFIM, finally released their official debut song and MV, “FEARLESS”.

In addition, LE SSERAFIM also conducted a magnificent debut showcase, in which they greeted their fans who’d been waiting for them for so long. But on top of everything, LE SSERAFIM also unveiled some exciting fun facts and answers to the controversy during their showcase and debut press conference.

1. The Creator Behind Their Name, LE SSERAFIM

The first among the exciting fun facts you must know about LE SSERAFIM is the creator behind their legendary name, LE SSERAFIM. As we have discussed previously, the meaning behind LE SSERAFIM is so magnificent and divine that it truly represents the exclusive image of the group: 6 luxurious high-class princesses.

Surely, you’re wondering who came up with the idea of LE SSERAFIM’s name and its meaning, aren’t you?

During their debut showcase and press conference, LE SSERAFIM member Kazuha revealed that Bang Si Hyuk PD himself came up with the name. It was the anagram of “I’M FEARLESS” and a representation of the angels of the highest level, Seraphim.

“Bang Si Hyuk PD gave us the name LE SSERAFIM. It’s really meaningful. Bang Si Hyuk PD proposed using an anagram of ‘I’M FEARLESS.”

Since Bang Si Hyuk derived the name from “I’M FEARLESS”, it symbolizes the group’s self-confidence as well as their solid determination to strive forward fearlessly. Bearing the name of the highest-level angels, LE SSERAFIM carries the vision that they need not fear the world’s judgments or controversy about them. They simply need to continue striving and explore their talents as the artists within them.

“My first thought was, ‘It’s extremely luxurious.’

So fascinating and touching, I remember getting goosebumps all over my body and tearing up that day.”

3. Chaewon and Huh Yunjin Wrote the Lyrics for Their Debut Song

Now, did you know that Kim Chaewon and Huh Yunjin actually participated in writing the lyrics for one of their debut songs?

During the debut showcase and press conference, LE SSERAFIM members Chaewon and Yunjin mentioned that the company chose their lyrics to be featured in the #3 track of their debut album, “Blue Flame”. It may not be the title track, but having your name embedded on the credit list of your very first album is something worthy to celebrate, indeed!

“The lyrics written by Yunjin and me were chosen. I’m happy to have my name in the credits of our first debut album. My desire to actively participate in song production in the future has grown more.”

“I was so, so happy. Since I got to sing lyrics that I wrote, I felt proud while recording, and I remember singing excitedly. Since song production is my desire, I will continue to work hard in the future as I want to participate in our next album too.”

4. LE SSERAFIM Initially Planned to Debut Without a Leader

During their preparation, LE SSERAFIM initially planned to become one of the Kpop groups that debut without a leader. However, as time went by, LE SSERAFIM members believed that in order to build good and smoother communication with the company, they needed a good leader. Therefore, as the 2^nd eldest of the group of native South Korean origin, they decided to choose Kim Chaewon as the leader of LE SSERAFIM.

5. Kim Chaewon’s Swift and Wise Response as LE SSERAFIM Leader About Kim Garam’s Controversy

Finally, one of the most notable fun facts you cannot miss during LE SSERAFIM “FEARLESS” debut and official MV showcase is when their newly-appointed leader, Kim Chaewon, showcased her wise and immediate response as the group’s leader when reporters brought up Kim Garam’s controversy.

During the QnA session in the debut showcase, a question came up to LE SSERAFIM member Kim Garam, asking about her bullying controversy. This controversy first came up when LE SSERAFIM first introduced Kim Garam as one of their members, but HYBE immediately denied that the accusation was not true. Moreover, the company also planned to take legal actions against the accusers if the rumor continued spreading.

This question was unexpected because it was unrelated to the “FEARLESS” official debut album, showcase, or even MV. Thankfully, Kim Chaewon stepped in and took over in answering the question, showing her wise and incredibly swift response as the leader of LE SSERAFIM.

“May I speak to you first as the leader?

We’re actually still discussing and handling this issue with our company. So, therefore, we’re very cautious about talking about it right now.

I believe there will soon be another chance for us to talk about this.”

Following Chaewon’s response, Kim Garam then agreed and added that she would continue showing her best performance.

“It’s difficult for me to speak about it at the moment. But I will strive to show my best side as a member of LE SSERAFIM.”
