BTS is Now Officially Busan Honorary Ambassador for the Bidding Process of World Expo 2030

BTS will again pave the way for South Korea to stand out in the international community!

On July 19, a ceremony was conducted on Floor 19 of the HYBE building to officially appoint BTS as the honorary ambassador for World Expo 2030 Busan.

BTS will accompany Busan Metropolitan City to win the bidding process as the venue for World Expo 2030 against Riyadh, Rome, and Odessa. They will also be responsible for the various tasks previously stated in the MOU to convince the members of the BIE General Assembly that Busan is the perfect place to hold the 2030 World Expo, the oldest and largest expo in the world’s history.

1. When BTS Humbly Received the Awards as World Expo 2030 Busan Honorary Ambassador

The first and most historic moment during the appointment ceremony is when BTS received the official awards as the honorary ambassador for the bidding process of World Expo 2030 in Busan.

They may be a global megastar and millennial King of Pop, indeed. However, during the entire acceptance process, BTS members remain humble in front of the government officials and everyone involved. And this is an undeniable trait of a true legend!

3. BTS Signing Moments as the World Expo 2030 Busan Honorary Ambassador

4. BTS RM’s Humble and Polite Acceptance Speech

After receiving all the proof of appointment as the official ambassador, BTS great leader Kim Namjoon (RM) delivered the most humble and polite speech.

He stated that they felt truly honored about the appointment, and even though it may not be much, they will strive to do their best with the bit of strength they have to bring the World Expo 2030 to Busan.

“Through what abilities we may have, we’ll add our little strength to ensure that the World Expo 2030 will soon become the Busan World Expo 2030.
Starting with the concert this October, we will do what we can through various activities to attract people to South Korea.
Not only to attract people here, but we’ll work hard through various fields to let the whole world know of beautiful Korea’s nature and culture.”

5. The Little Things Showing How BTS Members Were Happy and Honored

Finally, BTS being BTS, even during this stern and formal official ceremony, they still managed to fina ways to show how they were delighted and honored. And that was especially BTS RM.

During the introduction, RM changed the usual greetings from “2! 3!” into “Bu! San!”, which immediately brought a smile to everyone’s faces. Well, maybe except BTS V because he seemed startled and confused at first.

And almost the entire ceremony, BTS kept smiling proudly and happily to be appointed as World 2030 Busan ambassador. They even danced and clapped to the music with tremendous joy.

A HIDDEN Issue Angering the Public

Still, in the midst of joy and honor, there was a slight issue hidden in the ceremony that had angered the public.

During the ceremony, especially in moment #1 when BTS members received the ambassador awards, you might notice that the government officials and the politician abruptly lifted the hands of Namjoon, Jin, Suga, and later on, V.

According to some fans, the behavior of these officials and politicians was impolite because all the members seemed uncomfortable with the “sudden attack”.
