HYBE is finally speaking up against the leak controversy of its internal documents. In the latest statement, the BTS parent label declared its denials against the accusations that the circulating internal documents are parts of HYBE reverse viral marketing. Explore the company’s official statement with us in the interview below.
HYBE Internal Documents are NOT Reverse Viral Marketing
In an attempt to save the company’s plummeting reputation against the leak controversy of the infamous internal documents, HYBE recently conducted an interview, stating its denials against the reverse viral marketing accusations.
On November 12, a Korean media outlet, No Cut News of CBS, released an exclusive interview with the BTS parent label, HYBE. The interview was reportedly a part of the media outlet’s effort to follow up on the previous statement from Weverse Magazine that the notorious HYBE internal documents were compiled by a single person, former editor-in-chief Kang Myung Seok.
Therefore, CBS’s No Cut News contacted HYBE for an official statement regarding Weverse Magazine’s statement, asking for its official position and what kind of actions the company would take against the internal documents and its leaked content controversy.
Through this report, HYBE claimed its denials again that the internal documents are parts of the company’s reverse viral marketing strategy.
Further Explanation from HYBE
In the brief interview, HYBE declared to be in the same position as the previous statement from Weverse Magazine.
According to HYBE, Kang Myung Seok did everything by himself. He compiled HYBE internal documents as a separate project, independent from his duties as Weverse Magazine’s editor-in-chief. Everyone involved in the HYBE internal documents project was an individual unrelated to Weverse Magazine.
“The monitoring document was a separate task managed by the former editor-in-chief independently from Weverse Magazine production.
The personnel requested to handle the monitoring duties were members distinct from the Weverse Magazine production team, which is consistent with what we explained in the previous statement.”

Along with the denials against the internal documents, HYBE is also denying involvement with Kang Myung Seok and the reverse viral marketing allegation. HYBE stated that the company had suspended Kang Myung Seok and did not assign him to any task.
The writer of both HYBE internal documents and BTS 10th anniversary book is now on standby with no assigned duty. Not only that, but HYBE is also planning to take action against Kang Myung Seok.
“The former editor-in-chief is currently on suspension and not assigned to any tasks. We are reviewing the situation internally and will take appropriate action after this review.”

HYBE Claimed to Have Apologized Personally to Agencies’ CEOs
Finally, HYBE also claimed to have personally apologized to all the CEOs of the agencies whose artists’ names appeared in the internal documents.
“HYBE CEO Lee Jae-sang has been personally apologizing to the CEOs of each agency representing the artists mentioned in the document, either by phone or through an official letter in his name.”

Denials Against the Reverse Viral Marketing Accusations and Taking Legal Action
What’s more important, HYBE once again claimed denials against the reverse viral marketing accusations. It refers to the fact that the internal documents were compiled and used to create a strategy to increase HYBE reputation based on what’s viral about the artists.
HYBE is also planning to take action against those who have accused the company of doing so.
“Our company’s position remains that the claim of reverse viral marketing is untrue. We are currently reviewing the necessary actions regarding this false allegation.”

But despite all the denials, the Korean public continues to criticize HYBE. Instead of owning the mistake and repairing the company’s reputation, HYBE is allegedly conducting another witch-hunt to burn the whistleblower who revealed the company’s real face.
- “Sue them all. Go for it!”
- “Do you think lawsuits will silence people? And didn’t they say they wouldn’t hunt down insiders? Then why the lawsuit, HYBE stan?”
- “Seeing this, I feel like another scandal is about to break.”
- “This is pathetic.”
- “Please, go ahead and sue.”
- “Something else is definitely going to be dug up now.”
- “Then what are they gonna do about that massive report submitted to the National Assembly office?”
- “Whenever they try to act tough, something always ends up getting dug up.”
- “They must feel so wronged… Let’s clear this up with a tax audit to show clean expense records and prove their innocence!”
- “So, are we saying the National Assembly committee and the congressman lied?”
- “Are they chasing down the whistleblower again?”
- “The more HYBE tries to show off, the more backlash they get. Stop lying already, haha. I bet there will be another document leak today.”
