Numerous Kpop idols are known for their outstanding performances, including singing, dancing, and rapping. But not everyone is aware that those Kpop idols have shown their excellent skills in sports.
If your Kpop idols were athletes, what would they be?
BTS RM & Suga– Basketball Players
Basketball seems to be another sports BTS RM is keen on besides bike riding. He often shows off his excellent basketball skill in some BTS videos.

Suga took his stage name from “Shooting Guard,” a nickname given when he played basketball in his hometown. His left-hand shoot in ISAC 2015 still amazed everyone until now.
Not only the two hyungs of BTS are skilled in sports, especially basketball, but other BTS members also seem to have good skills. Don’t you think BTS can make a whole basketball team?
UEE – Swimmer
Through Kdrama “Hogu’s Love,” people notice After School UEE’s excellent skills in swimming. And she is indeed a good swimmer. UEE participated in the Korean National Sports Festival competition in high school.
GOT7 Jackson Wang – Fencing Athlete
Coming from a gold medalist family, it is not a surprise that GOT7 Jackson Wang inherits exceptional skill in sports. Jackson Wang is one of many Kpop idols with excellent skills in sports who gave up his chance to be an athlete and pursued his dream of becoming a singer.
Jackson Wang is talented and skilled in fencing. So at the age of 16, he became a Youth Olympic-level saber fencer with Hong Kong’s official junior team. Since then, he joined and won several fencing competitions, like the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships. His excellent skills in sports is very well-known that he starred the Tokyo Olympics Promotional Video.
WJSN Cheng Xiao – Gymnastic Rhythmic Dancer
WJSN Cheng Xiao is skilled in Chinese dances and martial arts. However, her extreme flexibility supports her in being a gymnastic rhythmic dancer.
ENHYPEN Sunghoon – Figure Skating Athlete
If not being a Kpop idol, ENHYPEN Sunghoon would definitely become a graceful international figure skating athlete. In fact, he WAS a figure skater and snagged a silver medal at the 2013 South Korean Figure Skating Championships. Since then, he paved his way in figure skating, winning gold medals at the 2015 Asian Open Trophy and the 2015 Lombardia Trophy in Italy.
Sunghoon said that he became a trainee because he thought dance would help his figure skating. But fortunately, he fell in love with the Kpop industry and decided to take off his skates.
WEi Yohan, SEVENTEEN Hoshi, APINK Bo Mi – Taekwondo Athletes
Yohan has been trained in Taekwondo for 13 years. As a result, he became a powerful competitor who won twice at the Korean National Sports Festival. It is known that Yohan acquired his skills from his father, who has been playing Taekwondo for over ten years.
Meanwhile, in an interview, SEVENTEEN Hoshi revealed that Taekwondo has helped him have self-discipline as a fundamental characteristic of an idol. In fact, Hoshi even acquired a 4th-degree black belt!
Not only male Kpop idols could be taekwondo athletes, but we also have APINK Bo Mi, who has a 3rd-degree black belt in Taekwondo.
WOODZ & VIXX Leo – Soccer Player
Cho Seungyeon, or WOODZ, used to be a soccer player and a famous striker for two years. He learned soccer when he was a sixth-grader in Brazil. WOODZ was also a part of “S.C. Corinthians Paulista,” a prestigious soccer club in Brazil.
When you hear Leo sings, you’ll close your eyes to enjoy his smooth voice. But when you watch Leo plays soccer, you’ll never want to close your eyes. Leo loves soccer, and he was a part of the South Korean junior teams for three years, from 2004 to 2007
CNBLUE Jonghyun & MADTOWN Jota – Judo Athlete
Jonghyun was a Judo athlete before deciding to be a Kpop idol. He participated and won a Gold medal at a Junior High School Judo Competition back in his hometown Busan.
Meanwhile, Jota studied at Dongji High School, which is known to produce national-level judokas. So, it is not surprising that Jota is also skilled in Judo.
APINK Chorong – Hapkido Athlete
One of the female Kpop idols who would be athletes is APINK Chorong. She participated in several hapkido competitions and gained experience for International Youth Martial Arts Cultural Exchange. Moreover, her father was an instructor at a hapkido academy, and he is the one who helped Chorong excel in hapkido.
ITZY Yuna – Floorball Player
Before joining JYP Entertainment, Yuna has been an athlete as a floorball player for four years. She was an excellent floorball player that the National Assembly awarded her. She also used to participate in a national competition and won most matches.
WINNER Seungyoon – Billiards Player
Seungyoon was trained with the Professional Billiard Association, so no wonder he is so calm and focused when playing billiards. Besides, he once joined and won the Korean National Sports Festival in Busan.
We are sure there are more Kpop idols who have good skills in sports. Feel free to mention your bias and the sports he/she is good at in the comment section below. Stay with Kpoppost and follow our SNS (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Telegram channel) for the latest stories and breaking news.
