5 Exciting Reasons Why IU and Park Bo Gum New Drama is Exclusively Special
In addition to its unique title, there are 5 more exciting reasons why IU and Park Bo Gum new drama is extremely extraordinary. And only true Korean drama enthusiasts would know and realize these reasons.
1. The Youth Story of Our Parents and Grand Parents
The first reason that makes IU and Park Bo Gum new drama extraordinary is its basic concept.
You Have Done Well is a Korean drama set in Jeju in the 1950s. The production team explained that the drama would depict the youth story of parents and grandparents that we commonly see in their photos. It brings back the memory and nostalgia of their golden time when life was the most exhilarating and challenging for them.
“It tells the story of our parents’ sunny days, the ones behind the laughs we usually see in the background of old photos.
In this drama, we will better understand the heartwarming stories of a mother’s first love, our father’s heroic days, the rebellious era of our grandmothers, and the precious loving stories of our grandfathers.
It is a heartwarming tribute to the seasons when they were young and their hearts still tender.”
Pan Entertainment, the production house of You Have Done Well.
2. Nostalgic and Heartwarming Characters
Secondly, in You Have Done Well Korean drama, we will see how IU and Park Bo Gum perform an outstanding appearance as the nostalgia couple. IU will take on the role of a rebellious young girl, Ae Soon, who then meets the solid-iron young boy Gwan Shik, played by Park Bo Gum.
Lee Ji Eun as the Brave-Rebellious Young Girl
All her life, Ae Soon was put in situations where she had no choice but to be strong and smart in many ways. But interestingly, every time she rebels, the little literary girl Ae Soon’s voice trembles because she always gets nervous.
Ae Soon may not come from a well-off background, but she is always full of positivity. She is a bold, brave young girl who doesn’t hide her emotions. And she always raises her head towards the sun even when she’s shaded under a harsh wall that gives her no ray of sunlight. All her life, the confident and brilliant Ae Soon dreams of becoming a poet even though she doesn’t get the chance to go to school.
IU will be in charge of unfolding the spring and summer days of Ae Soon’s blooming youth, bringing out the character’s charm and stories.
Park Bo Gum as the Solid-Iron Young Man in Love
Meanwhile, Park Bo Gum will take on the role of Gwan Shik, a young man who is described to have a solid-iron character.
Gwan Shik is a character with a sincere heart who understands the power of extreme diligence. He is the embodiment of a pine tree that is green and solid, a silent warrior with ironclad loyalty.
However, Gwan Shik changes into a different man in front of Ae Soon. He doesn’t know what to do or how to react when Ae Soon laughs and cries. From the beginning to the end, he loves only Ae Soon and dedicates everything to loving her.
3. Multiple Grand Reunions!
The third reason why IU and Park Bo Gum new drama is extraordinary is the multiple grand reunion stories behind the project.
You Have Done Well Korean drama is a collaboration project between writer Im Sang Choon and director Kim Won Suk. Writer Im Sang Choon is the mastermind behind great stories of When the Camellia Bloom and Fight for My Way. Meanwhile, director Kim Won Suk previously led many, MANY great projects such as Arthdal Chronicles series and My Mister.
That’s right.
In You Have Done Well Korean drama, we will have two grand reunions between IU and Park Bo Gum after their previous appearance in The Producers (2015) as well as IU and My Mister director Kim Won Suk.
4. Park Bo Gum’s First Drama After Military
The next reason IU and Park Bo Gum drama, You Have Done Well, will be extraordinary is because it is the first drama Park Bo Gum signed up for after completing his military enlistment.
Park Bo Gum completed his mandatory military service last year with an early discharge and a special, exemplary enlistee title. Upon completing his military service, Park Bo Gum celebrated his discharge with a heartwarming donation he delivered personally to the children and a stunning appearance as the charismatic host of the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards 2022.
Then, he continued charming the public with his appearance with BTS V and BLACKPINK Lisa at the CELINE Fashion Show and shocked us with the news of him leaving his agency.
Today, Park Bo Gum has made everyone excited with reports of multiple contract offers from big agencies like HYBE and YG. But unfortunately, none of these agencies managed to recruit him.
Still, what’s most important is that we can finally watch Park Bo Gum and his mesmerizing acting again alongside IU. And fans are extremely excited to see them together on the same screen.
5. IU’s Comeback Appearance on Small Screen
Another reason why IU and Park Bo Gum new drama is so special is that it marks IU’s comeback to the small screen after 4 years.
The last time the beautiful singer-actress appeared on the small screen was with Yeo Jin Goo and her savage female lead character in Hotel del Luna. She delivered one of the most iconic performances as Jang Man Wol, which everyone will never forget, no matter how many years have passed.
After Hotel del Luna, IU’s schedule was full of activities as South Korea’s most prominent soloist and various movie promotions. Then, she became the sweetest Dispatch New Year couple ever as her relationship with actor Lee Jong Suk went public.
Now, we are about to see IU’s magnificent acting again alongside Park Bo Gum, and it will be a top-tier performance between first-class Korean actors you can NEVER miss!
