Kpop #1 diva Lee Ji Eun, stage name IU, has decided to change the title of the song she collaborated with BTS V to “Love Wins All.” This change occurred following the unexpected controversy that IU must suffer after announcing the title of her new Kpop album. So, what really happened behind this controversy surrounding IU and her upcoming comeback album? Check out the details in the following report.
Kpop Soloist IU Faces Controversy for the Initial Title of New Collab Song with BTS V, “Love Wins”
The new collaboration song between Kpop #1 female soloist IU and BTS vocalist and visual Kim Taehyung (V) will be up and ready in a few days. Unfortunately, IU must face unexpected controversy against this highly-anticipated song.
Previously, IU’s agency EDAM Entertainment announced the official title of her upcoming collab song with BTS V called “Love Wins”. The company shared previews of the song on IU’s social media accounts along with the official poster, showing IU and BTS V sitting in front of each other.
While fans were praising the wonderful chemistry between IU and BTS V, the name of the collab song became problematic after accusations emerged that IU had been “queerbaiting” the LGBTQIA community.
What REALLY Happened?
After IU announced “Love Wins” as the title of her collab song with BTS V, it immediately raised concerns in the Kpop community.
According to multiple reports, “Love Wins” has been a phrase related to the LGBTQIA+ community because it’s often used in their fight for rights. Therefore, some people are worried that using this phrase in a regular pop song might make it less meaningful.
However, the stance also raised mixed reactions. Some state that “Love Wins” should stay as a powerful symbol for LGBTQIA+ rights. They think using it in a normal song takes away its deep meaning.

“IU seems to suggest that “Love Wins” is all about the world being saved by cuteness and friendliness, giving it a cheerful spin. However, if you look at her previous marketing tactics, you can easily see through her intentions. It’s quite transparent, and, honestly, it’s a bit disappointing.
When you Google “Love wins,” the first thing that comes up is about LGBTQ, but the decision to downplay this feels unpleasant and really annoying, LOL.”
Yet, others still believe the phrase is for everyone. They say it’s about love beating hate, a message that can fit any situation, not just LGBTQIA+ rights. And that is especially when IU has been using the term throughout her career.
- “It’s just saying that love overcomes all… does anyone really have a monopoly on such a basic idea?”
- “That phrase is so widely used. It’s kind of strange that they’re claiming ownership of it…”
- “Firstly, we’re not even sure if the music video is straight or LGBTQ-themed. And I wasn’t aware, but if that phrase is important to the queer community, then it’s probably best not to take it for other uses.”
- “Wow, this feels so contrived.”

On January 19, EDAM Entertainment announced the title change on the official Twitter account. In the announcement, the company also stated that they changed the title to respect everyone who loves in different ways. They also stated that the only thing they were against was the word “hatred”.
“We decided to change the title to respect and support everyone who loves in their various ways, and we accept the opinions of those who express concerns that precious messages might be blurred due to the title.
If there’s one thing that’s exactly the opposite of the message, it would be the word ‘hatred.’”
